You know AI was once a world class carrier - I logged at least 40 trips between 1973 and 1976 on economy and (when I could splurge) upstairs in the front getting toasted on booze in "Maharajah Class"  - that time the attendents were REALLY cute (one met up with me in the Lexington Hotel in NYC after a flight from Mumbai for a "quickie"when I was 19 yo).  The food was designed by our family friend Chef Vemulkonda Bakshi - and was simply the best you could get at the time.  Be Kind!  They’re facing a deluge of private carriers (Lufthansa Business Class and BA Club Class being the best of all things).

There were several different legs I experienced:

Newark (liberty) - Paris - Mumbai - A literal MIDNIGHT EXPRESS torture complete with in-plane interrogation by French police - this was an emergency trip (I couldnt get tickets on any other carrier "on the fly" in 2005)

NYC-Frankfurt-Dubai-Mumbai (1981) - terrible
NYC-London-Mumbai (1976 and before) - excellent
