Membership of clubmahindra(CB) is a ’chakrvyuha’ like experience. Getting in is easy. But getting out-only minus your clothes. On being invited by clubmahindra, I with my wife attended a presentation at WAVE Lucknow by two executives. Mechanics of the presentation was so designed that contentious issues were mentioned in the passing. Mr V introduced me to CB, its properties and arrangements with RCi, while mentioning in passing about ASF( annual maintenance fee) payable by each member.
Then Mr H took over he told me about various options of holidays and showed a video of some resorts. Mr V then took over and briefed about the flexibility of the scheme giving all possible permutationand combination of utilising selling carrying over etc of holidays. In the end, Mr H gave the final offer of the amount to be paid for 7 days holidays for 25 yrs. He talked of escalation free holidays, special offers/ incentives like handy cam/food vouchers, additional free holidays  in tenth year of CB etc. The amount of Rs 202,900 was to be paid Rs30,435/- imdtly and balance @14,372 per month for 12 months. There was no mention of ASF. I suggested to Mr V and H that the perday cost of holidays was around 1100/- plus. They did not correct me to include ASF of Rs 6647/- per year ie 950/-perday. I thus paid Rs 30,435/- on 14Jul presuming ASF was included in the lumpsum payment. However, when I received a greeting call from their office, I to my horror was informed of the ASF payable by me. I asked the caller to cancell my membership. I immediately contacted Mr V and H to cancell my membership while they pressed to reconsider. I visited them but of no avail. ON 18 Aug 06, I mailed to CB to cancell my membership,return Rs30,435/- and not to present my cheques for Rs14,372/-. But, they withdrew Rs 14,372/- from my account on 28 Sep06. When I protested and contacted on tele, I was told that I had applied for cancellation after "Reccession period"( term heard by me for the first time ), therefore I shall be given only Rs29,464/- . On 09 Oct 06 they again withdrew Rs 14,372/- from my account instead of returning 29464/ confirmed by them in their mail.This then is the true side of clubmahindra. I am sure others may not face it if they read my experience
