Hi everyone
this is a very good info base for people searching for info on acer lappys. I bought the above mentioned laptop in march2006 and there are pro and cons both.
the good thing is:
its a real value for money. it has everything from dvd dual writer to 3usb ports and bright view tft screen. if the same config be searched in any other brand its definitely going to b more than 60k. I got it for 39k. the amd processor is great and I have increased my RAM to 512. so the PC is working just ZIP ZAP ZOOM...
THE SCREEN IS ULTIMATE THIN AND ITS VERY HIGH RES WITH BRIGHT VIEW AND ITS 15.4" WIDTH MAKES IT GREAT TO WATCH DVD MOVIES.
THE BATTERY EASILY BACKS UP FOR 2 - 2.5HRS WITH EXTRA LOADS such as cd playing and songs running in the background.
OH YES... IT HAS Wi Fi CONNECTIVITY AND BLUETOOTH ENABLED (WHICH DOESN'T NECESSARILY MEAN THAN IT COMES FITTED WITHA BLUETOOTH DEVICE. U WILL HAV TO INSTALL ONE IF U WANT TO USE)
NOW THE LIMITATIONS:
THE AMD PROCESSOR GETS HEATED LIKE ANYTHING, now this is a prob in the laptops cause u cant be sitting with a hot cake on ur lap...
next THE SOUND IS TREMENDOUSLY WEAK. I tried my 600 bucks philips headphones which sounds like some cheap gadget from the china market.
ok now there is a real problem...
am saying real cause my friend who has the same model is also facing it.
the screen hood that opens up has got some minor cracks at the connecting plates. I dont know how this is going to affect my screen in the future...but am waiting for some time before I go to the fellows. the body is made of some real cheap material its not at all shock proof and sturdy.
THOUGH THE LOOKS GIVEN ARE REALLY NICE. THE COMBINATION OF SILVER WITH BLACK GIVES IT A GREAT LOOK.
in a nutshell:
IF U WANT EVERYTHING IN A LOW BUDGET THEN GO FOR THIS PIECE. ITS VERY HIGH ON PERFORMANCE. BUT YES IF U WANT IT FOR ROUGH USAGE THEN I THINK ITS NOT SUCH A GOOD CHOICE.
