Well,
I consider Aaj Nachle theme is/was an ideal comeback for Madhuri, but lack of promotion and public relations cost big time here. Also big aspect here is OSO (Om Shanti Om) releasing 2 weeks before, audience have still not come out from the OSO fever. Not yet ready for the break.
Think about this, traditionally, Bollywood have never seen any nonstop super hits (in terms of business from ticket sales), why .... There’s a vital economical factor, an average person in India cannot spend couple of 100Rs in watching 2 or may be 3 movies in a back-to-back weeks. With OSO and Saawariya striking the marquee on right time of the festival and holiday season, audience have spend their entrainment fund and now have no spare cash left to go visit cinema-hall for another movie, what so ever.
So I think, just about wrong timing for Aaja Nachle, if it would have been released in January, then things might have look different (Good business wise).
Comeback of Mandhri ... Bit too early.
My 2 cents…
