Aaghaz was realeased in 2000, it starred Sunil shetty, sushmita sen,namrata shirodkar,johny lever alok nath and gulshan grover and asrani.

The movie starts with govind (sunil shetty) and his sister arrive in mumbai from punjab, but the movie goes into a flash back where sudha ( sushmita sen) a police officer is shown in love with govind. govind has to marry a another girl suman ranganathan eventually forced to marry due to some circumstances.

suman is the daugther of govind’s guru. govind marries her to protect the reputation of suman’s family, because she gets pregnant with a another man’s baby. Govind does not treat her like his wife, because he is in love with sudha. Suman is always fighting with govind because she knows he loves sudha there she gets her brother sharad kapoor to confront govind who warns sunil of dire consequences.

Sharad is unaware of of the fact that the baby suman is carrying is not govind’s but someone else. When sharad learns about that suman had lied to her own brother he thinks that suman doesn’t have the right to live anymore he kills her and also she was the cause of the death of their dad.

The story takes a dramatic turn in the second half when in mumbai sunil’s sister gets raped. However he does not go out and start killing the rapists. There are five hundred people in the residential complex who silently watched his sister get raped and it is these people that sunil takes to task. In in the end all of them get together and takes the villains to task.

The problem with aaghaz is that the makers have tried and tested the formula that has been witnessed so many times in the earlier movies. The writers seem to have decided to play safe by churning out the same old stuff with brand new packaging.

The director has relied to heavily on the age old formula of attempting a good versus evil saga.

The music by anumalik is average tera mera man, dost and nau nau lakha are only songs worth listening.

The whole moves belongs to sunil shetty, he gives a great performance, which was never recognized by noone the scene in the court is worth a watch in the end when he’s explaining to the judge that all of these people watched his sister get raped none informed the police went to help out. The scene where sunil is beating up the bads guys in the middle of the movie and they put pepper in his eyes. Sunil shetty is very underrated actor, the reason his movies flop because he keeps taking same roles over and over again overall a very good actor. Susmita sen was allright despite a weak character sketch. Namrata shirodkar didn’t have anything to do. All the villains gulshan grover, alok nath mukesh tiwari did well. Comedy wise jony lever and asrani were really funny.

Overal a good an avarage movie to watch. I’d rate 6 out od 10
