As a kid I used to watch a lot of old Hindi movies , and my favourite actor at that time was Kishore Kumar ........ why ?? ....... because his innocent comedies used to make me laugh. When I say laugh
, I mean Laugh a lot.

As I grew up , I came to understand that there was much much more to this man than just goofy slapstick comedy. I was introduced to his voice. That voice which was so melodious that it starts ringing in my ears as soon as someone just mentions his very name. That name which was alive in the golden years of Indian cinema and will live forever ... Kishore Kumar.

Born in a Bengali brahmin family in Khandwa , Madhya Pradesh , Kishore Kumar headed for Bombay wh

ere his elder brother Ashok Kumar had already established himself as an actor.
He came to share a special bond with the biggest names in music direction at that time .. The Burmans ( Sachin / Rahul Dev Burman ).

Though he had to act in the begining to establish himself but starting from the begining he began building his career in the field he was born to excell ... singing. Born as Abhas Kumar Ganguly he lived life in his own terms and enjoyed every bit of it. He made his directorial debut with "Door Gagan ki Chaon mein" . Though it was not a hit, but the critics felt it was outstanding for its sheer sensitivity.
The foray of the Ganguly brothers in the hilarious "Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi"   was so much appreciated by the cinemagoers.

He had great respect for his fellow singers. He was once quoted saying that he charges Re 1 less than Lata Mangeshkar. He used to modulate his voice to suit the leading guy in the movie, be it Dev Anand from Guide or Rajesh Khanna in Aradhana or be it Amitabh Bachchan in Don or Amar Akbar Anthony.

Songs like Mere Sapno ki Rani , Roop Tera Mastana , Zindagi ke safar , Ye jo mohabbat hai , Jhumroo and many many more will live on forever. His potrayals ranging from  Jhumroo to Pan chewing music intructor of Parosan and many more will keep on putting a smile on the faces of many many viewers of countless many years to come.

He is one name who didnt just Yoddle away to glory ... he proved his mettle as a singer , actor and director. Kishore Kumar will indeed live on forever.
