Pros:
build quality, ease of use
Cons:
product quality, output voltage

I was in lookout for an inverter of 1KVA rating from a reputed brand. So when APC announced such a model, I contacted them. After a little bit of price negotiation, I bought one from one of the dealers
for about Rs18K. It was in April 2007. The delivery and installation of the equipment was prompt. I of course had the necessary electrical wiring ready for such purpose.

Shortly afterwards, we moved to our new residence (an independent home from an apartment). I noticed that under very low inductive load such as only one fan, the inverter made noise.

I lodged a service call. It took about a week (48 hours was promised) and multiple calls and finally to somebody called Mr. Nehal Dixit for service guys to come in. After some poking around, when I insisted, they replaced the inverter with a brand new one. It seems that they come ready with the replacement piece.

After about 3-4 months, I suspected that the battery was not taking charge like before. The low point was  when we were having our daughter’s birthday party and it was all dark in spite of having this inverter. The batteries were almost dry. Then I saw that the batteries were drying fast, needing me to add (distilled) water every week. They were also running somewhat hot.

Today morning, I lodged a complaint (it is still within warranty). To my delight, the call was responded to exceptionally fast. By 5:30pm, two guys appeared with new batteries and replaced the old ones. They were punctual too - I had to return from office at predetermined time.

Overall
+ The product build quality, ease of use
+ service is overall ok - I like the fact that they do not say "this’ll be like this only"; instead they replace the suspected faulty part at least within warranty. I would always prefer replacement than repair.

- the fact that by now I have both the inverter and the batteries replaced does not say good about overall quality of the product
- for some strange reason the output voltage is 220v - so at power cut, there is a sudden drop from 240v and otherway when the power arrives

Purchase Price (INR): 18k (approx) in Bangalore
Voltage of the inverter: 220v (on battery)
Which equipment do you usually use it on? All other than 15A (fridge/microwave/moter etc.)
Do you use it quite often? Yes
