The best text on ancient history that I have come across till date comprehensive coverage of political social and culture aspects. discuss in detail about the controversial issues particularly those about the fundamentals.
Detailed maps and illustrations are provided for better understanding and original sources of ancient literature works are quoted.It's a well researched book with very lucid and varied content.it doesn't get boring so it can be read by students with non-history background very easily.Excellent source material for IAS history optional. You would not need any other book for the map question on Ancient India.
The maps in this book are that good.The analysis given in chapter 9 or for that matter in the entire book is beyond belief. But IAS aspirants who have taken history optional should be aware of the fact that this book contains so much of content that it can easily overwhelm a beginner with information overdose. There is so much of data that a novice might be at a loss at what to include and what not to include in answer.
