Selvaraghavan is no stranger to the Tamil film industry and audience. He was the man behind Thulluvatho Ilamai and Kadhal Konden, both of them being blockbusters. This is the third movie from the same team. 7G Rainbow Colony produced by Sri Surya movies and music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The music has been a runaway hit. Lets get to business now.

Kathir (Ravi Krishna) is a brat college student who lives in rainbow colony. He has no ambitions in life and lives his life in a simple way spending time with his friends. Enter Anita (Sonia Agarwal) an ambitious, studious girl whose family had been well-off and lost all its wealth in business. Kathir gradually falls for her and follows her at all places. He tries to express his love in various forms and each of them turns out to be against him.

Anita being frustrated to such an extent, files a complaint and due to the persuasion of Kathir’s friends she takes back her complaint. Anita fiancee engages some goondas to take on Kathir and he makes a mockery of them. After the clash, Kathir expresses his feelings to Anita and talks out his heart. As days go on, a thick friendship develops between Kathir and Anita. She taps the hidden talents in Kathir and in the process they fall in love. What happens next forms the rest of the movie.

Selvaraghavan has done a good job with the screenplay. Some of the scenes in the first half really frustrate the audience, at least I felt so. There are places where the core idea is very poetically expressed such as the one where Vijayan describes to Sonia what would be served to Ravi Krishna, the way Vijayan feels proud when Ravi gets a job and the scene where Ravi uses an alarm clock to get up at 5 am to meet Sonia.

Vijayan, Sonia and Ravi’s friend (pardon me for not having remembered his name) have done a great job. The rest of the cast have also fit in exquisitely.

The best part of the movie is Yuvan’s music. The songs have hit the musical world like a typhoon. I have not seen a better background score from Yuvan. He makes the audience ecstatic with his music. Truly speaking, his music was one reason that glued me to this movie.

If some of those scenes in the first half had been removed, I would have liked this movie even more. I would rate this movie as 7/10 at the present state. Nonetheless, a good movie and might well be a hatrick for Selvaraghavan.
