Had read some reviews about this restaurant in the local newspapers - I decided to try out this place alongwith some friends for lunch moreso as I am fond of Bengali food.
The general upkeep of the restaurant seemed fine, I guess so as it is still very new. However, I found the restaurant to be more anglicized and not much touch of Bengal. I guess because they also serving continental food.
We were a group of four people of which I was the only non vegetarian.
On getting the menu - the confusion started as they had very little to offer for vegetarians both in terms of Bengali as well as Continental Food.
However, my guests order a veg Mulligatawny Soup - it was disastrous - I guess they were trying to do a fusion between Continental and Bengali food but ended up making a confusion.
The Non Vegetarian dishes were excellent particularly the Mutton Dish (Kasha Mangsho) except be careful while ordering Prawns (Chingri Machhe Malai Curry) as they do not shell the same. The Parathas were awesome. But the Vegetarian food was pathetic.
Also, beware of the portion sizes as they are just about enough for one person despite the price being comparable to some of the expensive restaurants.
The Desserts were pathetic too - the Mishti Doi is no were near the authentic Mishti Doi. They believe in serving Raj Bhog heated - they real believe in ending your meal pretty badly.
Though my non vegetarian meal was a good experience but the Desserts left a Sour Taste.
Staff seem trained but arrogant.
We just walked in as the place was empty so we cannot comment whether you need table reservation at this place or not.
