Pros:
brilliant books
Cons:
No.1 spot not filled yet

Books have been a source of knowledge, amusement and even inspiration from time immemorial. Admit it, books are a sure fire way to kill time when nothing is at hand. Anyway, this is not a debate and this
review is written so that I can share with fellow MSians the names of the books which I feel are the greatest:-

5. FRANKENSTEIN
Is it one of those days when nothing other than an evil and twisted story will do? Ah, then turn to Frankenstein. This is probably the only book which will scare you and force you to think at the same time. Simply unputdownable and brilliant. The humane side of messing with nature- and sufferring the consequences- has been dealt with in a most sensitive and soul stirring manner. Read this once and you will never again settle for any horror book again. My guarentee!

4. INHERITANCE TRILOGY
This is the three-part series which captures the transformation of an ordinary teenager named Eragon into a feared warrior. Although the third part has not reached bookstores tet, you can rest assured since Paolini is a modern master at writing epic-like stories. My only grouse? A bit tooooo long for my liking! Read my review on ’’Eragon’’ and ’’Eldest’’ to know more about this series.

3. CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
I read this book when I was around ten years old and I loved it. Roald Dahl is the best children’s author in my opinion. His amazing knowledge of children translates into great reading material. I have read all of Dahl’s works but found this to be the best. A movie was made of this masterpiece recently, but I did not see it since I believe that books are always better than their movie counterparts. This book is very funny and makes for a light and delightful read on a Sunday afternoon......... for people of all ages.

2. ARTEMIS FOWL
Artemis Fowl is 14-year-old genius who leads the life of a dangerous criminal. But one day he discovers the existence of fairies, elves etc. who reside in the ’’Lower Elements’’, ie, underground. Eion Colfer has churned out something extraordinary, and in my opinion, this book beats Harry Potter hands down. Kudos to Colfer!

1. NOT DECIDED YET
No, this is not the name of a book. I have not decided on the book which deserves this honour. Perhaps it will be published later, or perhaps my ’’dream book’’ is kept safely in some bookstore, just waiting to be read. Either ways, this slot is currently empty. Watch this space.
