Pros:
Great reads
Cons:
Extremely addictive

Hmmm...best books in what category...every genre has its top 5 (which again is a very difficult task)

Classical literature:
1. Julius Ceasar by William Shakespeare...the
Bard would top any list but the speech made by Marc Anthony after Ceasar dies is memorable..mde even more memorable by Marlon Brando.

2. Illiad by Homer...Just draws you in with all its twists and turns. An added bonus for Hercules’ fans is Ulysees also by Homer (not Simpson)!

3. Sons and Lovers by DH Lawrence...not something you would find in many book selections...also not something to read to yourkids at bedtime!

4. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas...the origin of ’swashbukling adventures’ was Dumas’ The three Musketeers but the Count is a more serious and gripping story.

5. To kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee...A very touching story thats bound to get you thinking.

Misc:
1. Alistair McLean...Where Eagles Dare, Guns of Navarone, Force 10 from Navarone, When 8 Bells Toll...need I go on?

2. Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts...an extraordinary true story about an extraordinary life...from escaping from a prison to helping the poor to dealings with the underworld..he seems to have done it all and survived to tell the tale

3. Freedon in Exile by the Dalai Lama...the human soul is capable of unspeakable cruelty, tolerance and kindness.

4. Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand...and The Fountainhead...you will either love it or hate it..there is no ’in between’.

5. PG Woodehouse...He is not just known for the Jeeves series but also many others including the Blandings stories...British humour at its best.

Fantasy:
1. Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien...the undisputed champion of imagination. Apart from inventing the Middle Earth, he also invented the languages used by the people (and creature) living in it at the time! The Hobbit is also a great read.

2. Harry potter by JK Rowling...It is not just a children’s book. Read it to find out more.

3. Discworld series by Terry Pratchett...hilarious doesn’t even begin to describe it. And as most funny things go, it is also very insightful at times.
