As the saying goes, "a book cannot be judged by its cover". Truthfully, yes! Some books comes with flashy covers to attract a reader and they fall for it and finds later that the book is not what he or she expected. The first and foremost is to choose or buy a book of your choice, whether you like adventure, mystery, horror, or even knowledge based books. The second would be the author, the third would be illustrations is any. A quick read of preface of the book is important because it is guiding you what the book is really about and how good the book would be for your reading. I, especially go for all these aspects before settling to choose or buy a book of my interest. Hoping this small guidance will come to use when you decide to go for a book.
