Yes, some have in minds that
Calcutta Book fair, an yearly event in this great glorious city, should not become
" A Peoples Movement" .. books for all .. visits by all ... purchase
/ review by all ..!!
Even tiny publisher attend and sell their books and related items in the fair..... there remains wide pavilion for the "LittleMags". Unknown artists are painting your portrait on the spot and taking small fees for that ... some are attending the seminar on books or related topics ... in one corner the less famous is selling his / her music CD ... all these are to be seen in the fair !!
Otherwise big publishers have always tried to remain a MONOPOLY in all matters including Books.
Some prefer to keep fair only for
"elites" .. some have tried to prevent the Fair this year in the name of environment/s .. but that is never to happen in this great and glorious city.
The fair of international repute was as usual with change in venue from the Parkcircus maidan to the
Salt Lake stadium and was a regular success.
One often doubts that whether "dusts" have reached even in the brains of these people .. !!
Why a litigation against books .... !! . Taking away the valuable time of the the Calcutta High Court, where laks of cases are pending to be solved, affecting the everyday lives of so many people and yet to get justice, these people are bring PIL in the name of public interest.
Disgruntled people, away from the common men,/ women "elitists" in their core thinking , political forces behind, are doing these. These wad / will be foiled. And the
champion was again the common man/women of this city.
