If you are a fan of the original 2001 A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke you might consider picking up this book, but I would not recommend it. Except for a brief connection to the original book, this is nothing more than a thought experiment by Mr. Clark about how life might be by the year 3001. We see this world and life through the eyes of Frank, the astronaut that Hal had ejected out of the ship when things started to go wrong.
If you are interested in Clark's view of the future, complete with fanciful technology, such as Zero Point Energy, then you could read it, but even then, not that much really. This is one Odyssey book that should have been rejected by the publisher, much like the last of the Rendez-vous with Rama books.
