Had to give it two stars coz MS doesnt give you a chance to give 1/2 stars...
I am a major history buff. especially interested in prehistoric eras and that was what made me go to watch this movie.
I never knew that I would come back re-educated in my historical facts.
Great big ships and animal skins as clothes? Wooly mammoths and Buildings that look suspiciously like they belong to the Aztec/Mayan civilisation?
Rub, rub, rub... I squint my eyes, No, its still all there.
The story revolves around this Siberian guy who walks off to find the supposed salvation for his dying out breed. Somewhere along in his adventures, the entire purpose of the search is forgotten.
The love story between the two main protagonists is one of the driest and most insipid that I have ever seen. And dont get me started on the old woman and the transfer of soul post-death at all!!!
The trailers were great, some of the very best in cinematography. And I realised that is all to the movie. Great Cinematography - you cant really complain about it. Though you might question the presence of the mommoths as beasts of burden instead of hunting fodder, and that too in a desert.
A poorly written plot, actors who really dont know what to do and great expectations. All combine to give an experience that you can well afford to miss.
