100 ft. Well, it used to be good, but the standards have dropped considerably in the last year.
The food is good and presentation is ok. However, I find that it often lacks the subtle
touches that make a good meal a great one. The pastas and other Italian dishes they serve, seem hurriedly prepared and come on a plate served up like someone has thrown the food on it rather than being nice and exquisite in its preparation. The food itself is not bad and tastes quite good. Im also impressed with the ambience, which by the way, looks better at dusk than it is in the day or at night.
Theyve got nice furniture - tables etc, and the ground floor is generally a more appealing place to be than on the first floor - where you can see the unkempt waiters trying to understand the orders or communicating with each other. It has also amused me to see the bartender make drinks at a snails pace.
When I go to restaurants, I like to observe hidden places, where they do not nomally expect customers to peek. At 100 ft, with the prices and the gourmet food and wine they promise, I was shocked to see the water arrangement. If you ask for regular water, youre pleased to know that it is mineral water served in atractive flasks with mint sprigs in it. However, behind the bar is a teeny corner where the mineral water dispenser is kept. This corner is more suited to a garage at an automobile shop than in a gourmet restaurant. Next time you go there, take a look and see for yourself.
The loo as well, is quite large, but then again, at restaurants, Im overly focused on hygiene and while their toilet is a good implementation and design idea, if I remember correctly it has a padlock on the inside. Now, I want to minimize the things I touch when I visit public toilets and to have to struggle with a padlock (that ensures that I pick up each and every germ left on it by previous visitors) is completely nonsensical.
The service, well Ive seen better and I for sure deserve better if Im going to be charged upwards of Rs. 500 per person for a meal. I dont like places that tick me off and this one does. It is quite apparent that they mete out preferential service to white customers than they do to Indians. Now Im lucky as I always go with my white partner, but I can clearly see the difference and that is definitely not nice.
Unfortunately, the whole place has deteriorated, they used to be very nice, with great service and even better presentation. I dont know the reasons but I think about an year back, they changed their menu and since then everything else seems to have gone down as well.
However, it remains a good place to eat out, but if youre looking for a romantic evening, you dont want to spoil it just because the waiter was racist. The service is much better at Fiorano and the ambience way good at Papparazzi, so go there instead.
Try this one out though, its not bad, but make sure you know you wont get your moneys worth.
