FIFA 98 which is an excellent football game is another Electronic Arts production. EA is a pioneering company in Ultimate reality PC gaming. With titles such as NFS 1-4, Hard Ball 1-6 and Cricket Ashes
Tour on its mantelpiece, this company mainly specializes in creating games based on Sports. FIFA 98 is another detailed game. It is so comprehensive that I can’t quite figure out from where do I start describing its features.
Features.
1) It supports two player and multiplayer via modem modes.
2) All countries on the world are represented along with their flags and players irrespective of whether they played in the last World Cup. Thus India and Indian players find a mention.
3) There are many stadiums to choose from. You can choose day/night and the weather conditions, ground conditions, field composition.
4) Other features are player substitution, multiple camera angles to choose from, excellent replay facility where you cannot only view replays but you can also save them.
5) There are many modes such as Practice Matches, training, Club Matches, Friendly matches, Penalty shoot outs and THE WORLD CUP.
6) You can view the replays at all times in the Highlights sections.
7) You can design your player’s looks. But the default features are the most accurate. You are allowed to design your player’s clothes color and pattern wise.
8) You are allowed to mess up with the players attributes adjusting here and there. Attributes such as Speed, Accuracy, Alertness, Passing, Shooting, Strength among others.
9) You can play as an Amateur, Professional or World Class player.
10) The World Club keeps a professional record of the matches with games played, won and lost and the points and the goal difference as individual player stats and cards. You can play by keyboard, mouse, game pad or joystick. The controls are pretty nice and smooth.
You can feel your way easily within no time and become a pro. All details of all stadiums are pretty commendable. The Title track I got my head shagged is also excellent. Camera options are quite good. There is stadium cam, ball cam, roaming cam, tower cam, side cam, shoulder cam and goal cam. You have it all headers, banana kicks, penalty corners and penalty shots, sideline throws, fouls and abusing the referee. You also have commentary. There is an option to play indoor stadium matches too. All said and done this is one game that all soccer fans should have. Also note that EA sports has greatly improved and produced FIFA 99 and FIFA 2000 which are fabulous and have added extra features. I will cover them here too soon. Watch out for those or if you did not like this one then don’t watch out.
