If you are looking for a good love story, then look now further! Sweet Home Alabama is the perfect love story. Reese Witherspoon also played in Legally Blond is the star of the movie. She plays
a New York Fashion Designer named Melanie Carmichael. She finds herself inside Tiffany’s after closing with her boyfriend Andrew, who also happens to be the son of New York’s Mayor Kate Hennings (played by Candice Bergen). Here Andrew (Patrick Dempsey) finally pops the question to Melanie and asks for her hand in marriage. Melanie is so happy, she always dreamed of this moment. He told her to pick what ever ring she wanted in the store. Wow now that is a dream come true for any woman. So just imagine, you’re a New York fashion designer and now engaged to the mayor’s son what more could a girl ask for or want? The only big problem the two fo them have is Melanie is still married to her first husband from high school. This is a secret of course and Andrew has no idea. A man of his statue in society can’t be found with a woman who is still married right? Well Melanie finds a excuses as to why Andrew can’t go back to Alabama to tell her parents the good news. Instead Melanie goes home to Pigeon Creek Alabama on her own. Pigeon Creek is a small hick town or redneck beer drinkers and hooting and hollering men and women. She heads to her husbands house to get him to sign the divorce papers that he refuse to sign years ago. This is when things begin to change. She thought it was going to be easy to get him to sign but it didn’t end up that way.

The story then proceeds with her running into some of her ex-friends. Of course Melanie thinks she is to good for her old friends and ends up mistreating them a few times. We soon find out that Melanie’s real last name wasn’t Carmichael, instead it was Smooter. I don’t blame her for changing that last name. Melanie just wanted to get divorced and marry her new love, but problems kept arising while she was home. She begins to find herself remembering her old feelings towards her husband. She remembered when they first kissed and were struck by lightning. She remembered the baby they lost, and then she started to fall back in love with her husband. She doesn’t realize this on her own at first, and believe me she ends up getting a few surprises along the way. How I felt about the movie I felt the movie was great, Reese done a great job of showing affection and learning her accent of the southern girl. Andrew was great to look at cause he is sexy, and Jake her husband played by (Josh Lucas) was also awesome to watch. You could feel the passion and love they shared on screen. It made you wish you were in Pigeon Creek Alabama having some good old fun at the town fair. The ending is awesome and I do have to say the original ending didn’t make it to the screen. They changed the ending and I wish they wouldn’t have. The movie is rated PG-13 so it is cool for younger kids to watch. However I wouldn’t say a 7 year old should watch it though. Candice Bergen was good in her role, she was a real bitch at the end and Melanie had to show her were her real place was! I think Candice needs to go back to Murphy Brown. I don’t like to give away the story line, but some questions to wonder while you watch the movie are: Does she get divorced, how did she come up with the last name Carmichael and the cool part of the movie is finding out that sand that is struck by lightning turns into glass. That was pretty cool I had no idea that could happen.

I liked the song they play “Sweet Home Alabama” it has a great beat to it. The affects were cool and the story line was great. I wouldn’t change anything about the movie and I’m glad things end up the way they do. I guess you can take the girl out of Alabama, but you can’t take Alabama out of the girl. All in all it’s a great movie and a great love story. I would recommend you rent it tonight!
