Beauty Pagents
First of all let us make it more generalised, beauty pagents are not necessary for Women, they exist even for men and I remeber the case where in a guy went and won the Miss australia or something cos he was most ’beautiful’ in all respects. Why the hell not one talks about that???

We should first examine the purpose of the pagents, why should we ’glorify’ beauty, I mean, its so abundant and exist everywhere in the universe, from my next door neighbour to the sunset I see when I go to the small beach at calicut, all are great.

Beauty pagents are just like any other forum to prove yourself, I see no difference between a boxing match and beauty pagent, I mean the best person wins, but the quality or ’tools’ used to judge the person may be different. In this respect, its a ’stepping’ stone for for aspiring ’models’ or tomorrow ’cine queens and kings’ to get noticed. Beauty pagents should not be taken so seriously, there ’may’ be a conspiracy theory behind this ’massive’ organization, but frankly who cares, I mean even if we care what bloody thing can we do???

Do they
No they don’t, cos they can’t. Beauty contests can’t bring out the true beauty of the person cos what’s beautiful for the judges may not be beautiful for me. They just ’glorify’ some of the most pretty, intelligent women/men of today who had the means to reach to that stage, I mean a normal middle class person living in India can’t have a personal trainer and most of the ’low end’ pagents ask for personal ’cataloge’ which costs thousands of bucks to make, so its just a ’sampling’ done from a pool of zillions of people who have the ’means’


To end it all
There are much more things to discuss, and I think I would rather discuss about ’The brief history of time’ instead of this. Its a really silly thing to write on, eveyone knows what true beauty is, ’inner beauty’ and ’outer beauty’ and all are not ’quantifyable’.

Hey, I remember a story I read long back, reg this ugly girl in a village who was shunned cos she was, ugly, she call called the devil. A great famine came and the high priests said that sacrifising the demon child would solve all the problem

At the altar, she thinks ’’I am really a devil, I don’t have three eyes like my mother, my ears are really short and not as long as my brothers and sisters, I have very long hair on my head where as my villagers are bald’’ so on. Just before she was killed, she started laughing, cos at the last moment of her life, just before she was to die, she realised the truth.

The story is abridged version and I don’t know the author and I think he is dead anyway, but he will kill me if he readsthis, just wanted to convey that beauty is what society makes of it. The definition of beauty may be differnt from place to place. Chinese belive that small feet are beautiful, have you see those tribals who have really long necks virtue of the terrible rings they have to put since they are kids, today’s kids are getting the same medicine, They feel that they will be ’beautiful’ if they are 36-34-36 or whatever and good in general knowledge. Beauty pagents puts this extremely wrong picture in minds of young kids. Unfortunatley, young people suffer cos those are the most vulnerable period of any persons life. They want to be ’accepted’.

End of the day, I love looking at beautiful (I mean attractive cos in today’s society both are used interchangably). And I am different from my girlfriend cos she is a woman. I have realised that women are differnt from men when it comes to ’viewing’ the opposite sex. Put all this together and you will get the answers behind beauty pagents.
