Phase I
The Reason why I decided to open an account with ICICI was their constant boosting of being the best online trading bank in India.
So one day I called their customer center to open
an account. The lady was very polite and after talking with her for some 5 mins she told me that one of their representative will visit me soon. I gave her my office address and asked her to send the person in my office. The next day I gathered all the necessary documents to open an account. It took exactly a week for their representative to turn up., and on my inquiring about the delay he gave me all silly reason, like he was busy with many more clients and so could not come on the promised date. Can you believe that this people just for the sake to woo the customers make false promises. Why not tell the truth that “Madam our representative is busy he may not be able to visit you this week, why make false promise? Ok let me proceed further otherwise it will take a page to mention all the difficulties that I faced just to get their representative visit me.
Phase II
Within a month I got a letter from them saying that your account has been activated. So he next day I went to my nearest branch to deposit a cheque. As I entered inside it was over crowded with almost people in every corner, most of them were the employees themselves. Most of the branches that I have visited in last 5 months the feeling I got is the branches are over employed. They just don’t have enough work to keep them busy.
Phase III
After going through all this I decided to use their Phone banking facilities, and trust me its not better than Central Railway Inquiry. Every hour you will find some different people to answer your query, and most of the time you are put on HOLD. Trying their Phone Banking is wasting your time, so if you have an account with them my advice is its their phone banking is total flop.
Phase IV
Their trump card ATM. To some extent its ok but what I have noticed is most of the ATM are build in very isolated place, and its down during evening time.
The Finale
Here is something that made me to finally say GOODBYE to ICICI. Initially they told me that their share trading service is free, so I did most of my trading through ICICI direct. The service was not of much help. Now just a week from now I got a mail asking me to pay for using share-trading service. Again I got in touch with the concern person and informed them about the mail and also that I am no more interested in continuing my account with ICICI. Then they informed me that Madam we are sorry this mail is not for current year it’s the advance payment for the coming year. In the end I had to pay them for the service, which I never utilized.
My sincere advice is Never Do your banking with ICICI.
