How I quit smoking, and tips for before you quit!

There are some things to do before you actually quit smoking.

Start by not lighting up when on the phone.

Try not lighting up while on the computer.

Try not lighting up after
eating.

PLAN IT: Plan to stop, and when the Day arrives, get into a routine of walking every day. Force air into your lungs. This way you will address the fear of gaining weight, while your lungs reclaim their health.

I tried to quit cold turkey first time was eight years ago. I was smoke free for about six weeks, and quite irate for most of the time. Trying to quit smoking cold turkey seemed impossible. Our relationship was strained as it was, my husband and I. I just couldn’t deal with going cold turkey. I felt that I could snap. I started sneaking butts out of the ashtrays. It wasn’t a very pretty site. I could not take the chance of a murder charge hanging over my head. So I ended up giving in to the lesser of the two evil’s.

Okay so years go by. I decide to do it myself again, only using the Patch this time. We try it together at first. Then he starts to feel dizzy, and takes it off. He is now afraid that it will do something really bad to him. Before you know it he is sneaking, and then buying cigarettes again. I yell at him, and tell him, he was not afraid to take all kinds of drugs, but he is afraid to take the Patch? Check yourself dear!

It works for me this time for about three months or more. I don’t know why but, I ended up sneaking them again.

Finally one fine day he just announces that he decided to use the patch again, this time he picked his 51st birthday to do it. Notice how I said the word ’decided’?

So I humbled my pride, and I let him make my decision for me like the child that I am. Instead of my usual ’I am woman hear me roar’. I say, ’I am woman hear me fish!’ Get me my tackle! I am free!

We got the patch again, and took it more seriously this time. We used Nicoderm CQ. It is much easier when you are in a non-smoking environment, at least it was for me. A lot of people would have given up on quitting if they failed once or twice. I say to repeat to yourself,

’’never stop trying to quit!.’’ ’’never stop trying to quit!’’ One day, you will want to be able to breathe!


I am free 16 months.
