Jodha Akbar starts with historical narration from Amitabh Bachchan..Then comes controversial Hemu Bairam Khan fight..It seems that Ashutosh had made up his mind showing Hemu as a barbarian and Mughals as benevolent..The person who played the character...

By: devashish_kk Member's photo available | Mar 02, 2008 04:59 PM
I know, I am swimming against the tide and writing a review for(or I should say-"Against") JA...But I am helpless....The film failed to impress me......Even not after watching it twice in the theatre!!!I saw it the first time....as a movie...

Rai & Roshan chemistry
By: Nisha007 | Feb 29, 2008 07:05 PM
Yesterday there was a major tiff between some protestors of Jodha Akbar and the cops resulting in a big ruckus in Sangli (Maharashtra). This triggered my temptation to actually see the film for myself and determine its worth.  But boy! I cannot...

A Decent Watch
By: ujnip Member's photo available | Feb 29, 2008 01:53 PM
Although I was never an ardent history reader, I love to see people enact history and put it forward for the masses in a less formidable form. Movies about about kingdoms, wars, betrayals and love appeals  to me. I have tried never to miss any...

Epic grandeur

Asutosh Gowarikar’s magnum-opus historical epic about the love story between India’s greatest and most noble ruler and a Rajput princess released as the year’s biggest and most awaited film. The hype was tremendous and expectations taller than the King’s...

In the film Jodha-Akbar, Ashutosh Gowarikar, to cater to his international audiences,  has shown Hindu kings of period in low esteem and has  pampered&;his characters led by Akbar. Not only Rajputs have been insulted...

I was never a history freak. Infact Social Studies exam used to give me goose bumps. Till date I can clearly recall sitting on the rocking chair in my closed room memorizing those long, descriptive history answers. An ardous task, to say the least. Well...

Listening Jodhaa Akbar
By: sureshmehcnit Star Writer | Feb 27, 2008 12:18 PM
The chemistry between Ashutosh Gowariker and A.R.Rahman is really surprising, because the background score written by A.R.Rahman for ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ is just as good as the movie. As Ashutosh starts the movie with disclaimers...

Good movie but with inaccurate history
By: asikaria | Feb 27, 2008 05:07 AM
Ashutosh Gowariker is indeed innovative and you actually travel back in time to 1500 AD. The sets, costumes, dialogues, sound effects and overall set-up are magnificent. Would strongly suggest seeing this movie at a cinema hall or on a wide screen...

A spectacular magnum opus
By: Subhashish Member's photo available | Feb 26, 2008 03:45 PM
Saw ‘Jodha Akbar’ last Sunday. A spectacular magnum opus is the most fitting adjective that comes to my mind to describe it. Ashutosh Gowariker has scored a hat trick and hit the bulls-eye once again. So what if ‘Swades’ was not a commercial success,...

The story told in haste
By: charu.kaushal Member's photo available | Feb 26, 2008 11:45 AM
The movie makers in India have long started to take the forlorn routes to please their audiences and one such attempt was made by Ashutosh Gowarikar. After the success of Swades, Ashutosh speculated “History” as his plot (one of his interviews...

Great camera work
By: mritunjaymk | Feb 26, 2008 02:23 AM
There are good movies. And then there are great movies. But very few are truly epics. I can very confidently say that Jodhaa Akbar is going to be an epic.Do not be daunted by the 195 minutes runtime of the movie. At no point in the movie will...

The good news. After a dismal first weekend, Jodhaa Akbar seems to have rocked on its second weekend in big centres like Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore. And industry experts feel that the film has salvaged its reputation after all. Which is good news for...
