I do not understand what is your worry. Looks like your concern is kids are taught Hindu chants...I say what is wrong in it...in Convent schools they dont teach Hindu chants....and they say it openly....where in they are saying they are not secular. And when it comes to showing Eid / Bakrid....do yo...u think Prophet Mohammed can be depicted like Lord Krishna / Lord Ganesha are depicted...there will be a case similar to that of the Dutch cartoonist. Oh...I never knew about this one. They had contacted me several time to enlist by Business (if I have one) for free on their website. Thankfully I did not have a business...hence, my association with Just Dial is only with respect to browsing their website for any information that I need.

The review is more about going to the shop and talking to the dealer rather than the features. Information about Suction Power, Electricity consumption, etc., would have been helpful.

Very rightly described. Even I watch this serial for the baby Krishna. Yet again the Sagars proved that they are the best in selecting the cast ensemble. I have seen a couple of episodes and felt it is a complete 'yuck'. And yes, the costumes --- the characters are made to look like the characters from Russian mythology -------indeed straight out of Gladiator. Its so bad that Indians cannot identify it as their own Mahabharat if they happen to pass b...y without knowing the name of the serial. Manish Malhotra, who I thought to be talented designer (remember Dil To Pagal Hai) is wasting his talent by joining the Ekta camp and for creating this magnum opus crap.Read More

Fo all those who miss Humlog and Padosan, do watch Baa, Bahoo aur Baby on Star Plus every Fri, Sat and Sun at 9.00 pm. For its an amazing serial and a must watch with the whole family particularly those for who cherish family values.

Hey Akash,
I strongly disagree with you saying that Balaji Telefilms have changed the culture of the society because this kind of a story was introduced in Swabhimaan much before Ekta attempting it. And what about all those movies where infidelity was a core concept albeit it was men who had extr...a-marital affairs and not women.
The Indian society has evolved as such from the days of Hum Paanch and Padosan. It's the general public who is to be blamed for watching this crap on TV and not Ekta or Star Plus for airing them.
And to tell about going to relatives houses - even people who dont watch these stupid serials dont go to other people's house. Reason - Addicted to computers or our lifestyle and work atmosphere has changed so much that if you have a holiday you might as well prefer to sleep rather than go to somebody else's house.Read More

You said Girls say 'Mujhe Parvati jaisi choodiyan, Prerna jaisi saari aur Mihir jaisa pati chahiye....' And is Ekta and 'K' serials to blame for it. But much before this trend, there were girls, who wanted 'Madhuri's dress from Hum Aapke Hain Koun' or Kajol's dress from DDLJ or those... famous Maine Pyar Kiya bangles. There were Girls who ran away from homes to meet Rahul Dravid or Sachin Tendulkar or Shah Rukh Khan or Aamir Khan.
And then there were guys who had that Aamir's Dil Chahata Hai haircut or long hair like John Abraham and abs like Hrithik Roshan. A couple of decades ago, there was news about an old man who willed his estate to Hema Malini because he had a crush on her and made his own family paupers.
In such situations, there is a problem with the people who try to imitate Prerna or Parvathi or Tulsi but not with the serial itself.

Hi Akash,
Agreed that Ekta Kapoor's serials are idiotic and all of them are the same after sometime on air. I dread Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and I have not watched any of her serials even in those days when Kyunki.... was a huge hit. I was really taken aback by what she has done to Mahabha...rat by bringing in Manish Malhotra to dress up the characters to resemble Russian mythology. Straight out of Gladiator.......
But again, if the serials are that bad, why do the TRPs for those serials so high? Why are these so many advertisement from big corporates? Should we blame Ekta or the public?
Again, I admire Ekta for being a successful businesswoman in such a small time when she was just 24 years old in an all-man world. Again I am not being feminist but admiring her for her path-breaking attitude. She has created lot of employment and transformed TV into a strong competitor for the Movies.
She is good-looking enough and with the help of some surgeries, she could have entered the glamour world as an actress and try her luck like many of those crowned/uncrowned beauty queens do. But instead, she chose a different path - to start a production house and she has been successful at it.
It was a known fact that actors keep throwing tantrums on the sets; she has started a new trend of changing any actor at any point of time - thus keeping the actors in their limit and not allowing them to act smart.Read More

Good review Akash. Indeed a very good topic.
Rangoli was an all time favorite and I used to watch it until three years ago. And Giant Robot (on Wednesday evenings) was a motivation to complete home work early.
And I very well remember about the week long wait to watch movies on Saturday (regio...nal) and Sunday (Hindi) [which was later interchanged] evenings-----------without any in-between commercial breaks.
And believe me some of the best movies (classics of Indian cinema) I have ever watched were those telecast on Sunday afternoons. Where every week a national-award winning regional movie was telecast with English sub-titles.Read More

Thanks for the info. I will view the solar eclipse. Its sad that the eclipse in totality does not occur in Blore. Otherwise, I would have loved to see the live one instead of the telecast one. Even the 96-97 eclipse was not seen in totality in Hyderabad,when I was there.
