Hi Sujata,
Those were some unusual yet convincing choices. I particularly liked Anil-Madhuri in Tezaab.
I also kinda liked Dharam-Hema in Sholay.
Cheers,
Ravi

Hi Milind
Loved the review, as always. The choices were quite good. Was excited to see my favorite 'Ik pyar ka nagma hai'. The song is beautiful.
I would have also added some song from 'Kranti'. I love the music, although the lyrics are quite crappy. The interludes in songs like 'de jaa pyar j...ara sa' and 'Chana chor garam' as well as the rain song ' Zindagi ki na toote ladi' are spell binding.

Raj,
Interesting review. I've read abt Vivek's performance in other reviews too. Guess the presence of Ash made a difference to his motivation. And ummm..., is the rumoured 'kiss' scene really there?

Good review. Like most Aamir films, this too is first-rate. Particularly surprising is that in such a thriller, action film, the music is so beautiful. I love almost all songs from this movie.

Hi ena,
That was terrific. Nice thing u focussed on this ubiquitous maa in Bollywood.
These characters are so insufferable. A typical maa-beta dialogue goes...
Beta: Maa
Maa : Dekha.... isne mujhe mmmaaaa kaha...beta...yeh shabd sunne ke liye mere kaan taras rahe the...ek baar phir kaho b...eta...
Beta: mmmaaaa (with an extra emphasis on M)
Maa: gale lag jaao beta..
Uff, its so sickening!
Rakhee sounds drunk in all her scenes...esp in Karan arjun.

Damo: Yeah, check it out. Its quite a timepass site
Lyla, sunil : There must be some mistake. infact I had given a request for deadoraliveinfo.com through Mouthpad. And they put up this site. Anyways, I think I'll make a mention in my review at the end.
Lyla, even if you have been to the other... site, it is only a blank page as Sunil mentions. So please check out deadoraliveinfo.com or 'dead-or-alive.org'.

Hi Sharad,
That was an insightful review. I've heard some cassettes of the audio version of Deepak Chopra's book. It was truly a paradigm-changer!

Muneeb,
That was really hilarious! Truly, Ekta Kapoor really must believe that we are all dumb people and will lap up any trash that she dishes out! Its a real insult to the audience's intelligence. Esp. serials like Kaahin Kissi Roz go to the lengths of absurdity.
Wonder when her luck with t...he TRPs will run out?

Rohini,
I'm all for some boldness and some nudity in Bollywood. But unfortunately, this is served in very bland and horrible plates. The plots and direction in such films is so tasteless and usually the director seems to have all his attention focussed on the so-called hot scenes that he forgets ...that he has to narrate a story and outline the characters.
Super review, despite it being short by Mouthshut standards.

Milind,
Point noted :-)
Regarding the issue of Lata singing in the higher notes, I found one interesting article in which Lata herself says she hates those songs.

Just check it out.

Dear Milind,
Don’t know how I missed this review. When I had first got this topic introduced through Mouthpad, little did I know that there would be so many superb reviews being written on it. I must say that yours is one of the best! I agree with you that Lata’s voice sounds extremel...y sweet in the lower pitch, but even in the higher notes, she is thoroughly competent. I cant think of any other female singer who was able to attain those levels.
Many of the songs you’ve included are also present in my list on this topic – I particularly remember “Pal bhar mein yeh kya ho gaya”! What a song!
There is just one point where I have my own views – that is on the supposed “foul-play” by Lata. She has been accused of trying to sabotage the careers of other aspiring signers. How? Apparently, she used to threaten the music directors that she would stop singing for them if they try out other singers. Please, what do you expect a professional singer in a competitive field to do? Be so generous as to tell music directors that please try my competitors and give them a chance. Why should she?
And during her career she had many tiffs with some music directors – you mentioned C. Ramachandra, I also know in the case of SD Burman. Now during that time, they could have gone to some other singer. What stopped them? The only reason was Lata was so way ahead of anyone else that she could command that kind of clout. If any other singer tried this stunt, they would have been shown the door. Anyways, that’s my view.
Congrats on becoming a “Star writer”.
Cheers,
Ravi

Hi Narayanan...
That was superb! You've really described the place well.
Actually I've heard a lot about the dangers of the African continent (apart from the wildlife...LOL). My brother had been for a week to Kenya and he had some nasty experiences to relate.
Good you survived these episo...des.
