Hi Maheep, Take it easy dude! I am a proud Punjabi, doesn't matter if I am in San Diego or in Chandigarh. You are right again, Bolero is great and it looks good too and it should not be compared unfairly. I hope you enjoy your Bolero! :) Sat Sri Akal! Bye

No, I didn't say that. I am saying it is better than Montero in almost all respects. Although off-road capability of Montero is slightly better because of higher clearance by 0.4 inch. However torque of Pathfinder is almost 30% greater, which matters while climbing those rocky steep hills.

I know a thing or two about off-roading. 80HP for six people on a 30 degrees incline on a rutted terrain, I would ditch the Gypsy and bet my life on a mule. It does not come with All-Terrain tyres. Gypsy has got open differentials and no front or rear locking differentials. It does not even have ...limited slip diffs. It has no skid skid plates at the underbody of the vehicle. Any hard knock to fuel tank on a rocky terrian is going to bust open the fuel tank and same holds true for oil pan as well. If your idea of 'off-roading' is to go on 'kuchha' roads at your granny's local village roads, Gypsy is great. However, if you are talking about serious expeditions, stick to mules that a Gypsy! I bet you wouldn't even know what 4-LO gear in your Gypsy does or worse you might have never engaged it! I am sick and tired of people who throw in their 'off-roading' experiences in the reviews whereas the fact is they don't know a dick about off-roading. I bet 100 bucks you never aired down your tyre pressure before so called 'off-roading'. When you have used GPS navigation or a compass to get out of a 'lost-in-a-desert-situation', then tell me about your off-roading experiences. Till then, be a wimp, stick to your girls.Try using their lipsticks and stop being a 'pseudo-macho-offroader'! Read More

Well, I have no idea about this car. It definitely looks good. I've been cajoling my dad to sell his Zen and scoop up a Swift. I am hoping this car takes 20 years off his age and spices up his life! Hopefully this time my mom will learn how to drive. She would look cool in a red one! :) I hope h...e puts deposit on it this week. I am not sure about the quality and stuff! Should be alright I guess! Has anybody actually driven it? Any real reviews?Read More

You don't want to buy a porshce if you are looking for solid reliability. Porsche was almost at the bottom of the list released by JD Power for initial quality control.

I never compared BMW to Dodge Magnum. I was merely making a point that 'cool' factor of BMW has disappeared for 5 and 7 series. Now that you have mentioned, Magnum's chassis and suspension is shared with Mercedes E-Class. BTW, it is 'bimmer' and not 'beamer'. Looks like you are one of those... 'wannabes' on the forum without having any real knowledge.Read More

You mentioned you took your Jeep to places which people can not even imagine even on foot? Where did you take your Jeep? Share your adventures and pictures if you have them. I have seen them in action and it is mind-blowing what these things are capable of. I think you might have heard of Jee...p Rubicon, the ultimate off-roader. Front, center and rear locking differentials are standard on it with 31 inch GoodYear mud-terrain tires. In low range the gear ratio is 4:1 which is very low. I take my Pathfinder to the woods quite frequently and I meet number of 'Jeep-guys'. I am planning to take it to Sand dunes in couple of weeks or so after I get new 'shoes' for my truck. Hey, you can not ridicule Petrol engines, my Petrol engine would kick your diesel engine's a** any time! :) BTW, Jeep name came from a Popeye's cartoon character called Jeep. This cartoon charcter could go through walls, climb the trees hence the Jeep name. One more thing Hitler's VolksWagon's 2-Wheel drive military vehicles performed better than 4X4 Jeep in WW-II, because they consumed less gas and they were faster. Since the engine was at the back so it gave decent traction with off-road tires and momentum. Read More

It was more like a quick rundown of advantages of Pathfinder over Pajero. I never intended to review any of them. My comparison was intended for those people who thought Pajero was the ultimate SUV and they probably had driven neither vehicle. I see lot of people on the board who simply cut paste i...nformation of magazines and they are writing reviews on every car under the sun from Mini Cooper to Ferrari Modena. I believe most Pajero guys on the board belong to that category so I wanted to throw in a kicker for them! :) One more thing, Mitsubishi Pajero was declared unsafe vehicle in US by National Highway and Transport safety and so was Isuzu Trooper. These vehicles are simply frowned upon in US. Mitsubishi is having tough time after a scandal broke out regarding covering the engineering defects. Its sales are 40% down. If a vehicle is unsafe to drive, I am not going to waste time reviewing it.Read More

Japanese did the same thing with Mercedes and created Lexus. I agree Chinese are the best piracy experts. However, they are working on Hybrid technology as well. They are 5 years away from reaching the level of Korean car manufacturers. Now Koreans cars are on par with Toyota and Honda as far ...as quality is concerned which is kind of shocker! The thing is Chinese car companies are hungry for US car market and they will get there in 10 years. Chinese car market is already becoming 4th largest car market in the world just behind US, Germany and Japan. Indian car companies are either incompetent or sleeping! zzzzz!Read More

New Pathfinder is a big family hauler with seating for 7. Since 1997, Nissan passed on Pathfinder's 'tough-guy' character to Xterra and Pathy has become a premium segment vehicle with softer looks and all the comfort features like DVD, GPS and what not. Xterra on other hand is tough and tumble with ...no frills but its off-road capabilities are better than that of Pathy. It costs $10-15K less than Pathy. In fact that was the decision I had to make three years ago, Pathy or Xterra. Xterra's engine was smaller (3300 cc, 210HP) compared to Pathy so I skipped it.Read More

One guy in our building has new 5-series and I have to see it every single day. The car looks beautiful from front but the continuity is broken at the end. It is like having an excellent meal and a very bad dessert in the end, that is the exactly the way I feel about this car. I am actually quit...e disappointed with the looks, for me that kills it. Even previous BMW owners hate the 'new' look. Their sales are way down, so apparently I am not the only one disgreeing with Bangle. Although I have no doubt that it would have excellent handling given it is first all aluminium car from BMW with almost 50-50 weight distribution in front and back which is very hard to achieve.Read More

I am not old, I am not rich so that settles it! Turbo-charged 450 BHP Porsche Cayenne-Turbo SUV is definitely on my dream car list. Although its styling is not that good, I was surpised to know its stunning performance on slalom course as well as drag-strip. There is very little body roll on th...e curves, thanx to its active suspension. Now, that's a vehicle you could take to a race track and it would beat the hell out of Z4s and Boxters and off-road it would be more capable than Discovery and Jeeps. One could even haydraulically disconnect sway bars(stabilization bars) for maximum axle articulation. I've been coaxing a friend to buy Cayenne-S. Let's see! Read More

That's definitely not a good sign. With quality like that, better stick to the pavement instead of venturing into the woods. It looks like that car definitely has lot of features but styling looks quite odd with cheap plastic slathered all around its body. FYI 'balancing anti-roll bars' are no...t good while off-roading because they restrict axle articulation. However they are a must for on-road driving. Good luck with your Safari and have fun! :) Read More

Right now I am going through 'truck' phase. In fact I would like to own a pick-up truck, Cadillac EXT. Lift it by 8 inches, stuff 3 feet diameter tires in it and it would be sweet deal! :) When I go for skiing, I always see car owners come out of their cars in sub-zero temepratures and they put ...on metal chains on their tires for traction because there is snow on the road. It's the law. 4X4 with all-terrain tires are not required to put on chains so I just fly past them enjoying hot-coffee in tmy Pathy and laughing at their miseries! :) At that moment I do not miss nimble handling of cars. I like to own a vehicle that I can have fun with and it should have a personality. I would love to own a high performance car as a second vehicle in future. New Mustang is so hot, they are giving away V8, 0-60 in 5 second car for just 12 lacs. Its looks are so stunning that I am tempted to buy one. Read More

Stop doing that! First of all Nissan does not have coupe version of Maxima. Second, the only coupe 'Z' comes with 287 HP and not 385 HP. I don't know where you are getting your numbers from.

Saab is 100% owned by GM but they have closed a deal with Fuji Motors to sell some technology and a Plant to GM. In fact new Saab wagons are based upon Subaru' all wheel drive platform. So I guess they can get away with calling it Chevrolet. As far as crashing into Land Cruiser, I wouldn't bet o...n that! It is designed for simple dirt-roads and not designed for rough terrain. Other day I saw a Subaru stuck deep in a muddy lake bed, I guess the owner had too much confidence in its all-wheel drive system. To call it 'genuine-offroader' is definitely far-fetched! One can not lock the center differential and it is unibody vehicle so I would keep it on the road. Read More

I went for test-drive couple months back with a friend. Many owners are reporting all kind of issues in LR3, from minor to major issues like stalling on a slope. My confidence has been shaken in LR3, I was hoping they would do better on reliability issue. I'll wait for atleast a year. I do want to... check out new ML from Merc too. How's the experience with Rangie? I believe it had many glitches too.Read More

Unless you've been living in a cave, you would know Bangle is the chief styling designer for new BMWs and he bungled it big time! I always hated ''Bangle-bungle'' styling in 7-series, 5-series and Z4. What the f**k was he thinking, did he have too much pot and he forgot to look it from back. ...Read more

Cars are definitely my passion! Even when I was in my first grade, other kids would draw pictures of Hills and rivers, I and my brother would draw pictures of cars and jeeps! Before I bought Pathfinder, I owned a two-door 'sports' car Mistubishi Eclipse 2000 model. It was not a serious sports car... but it was fun to drive. I wrecked it in a car crash on a lonely highway in the woods! My insurance company spent $12,000 to fix it and eventually I sold it. I was looking for a powerful vehicle and I bought Pathfinder. Pathfinder competes against: Toyota 4Runner Jeep Grand Cherokee Dodge Durango Cheverolet TrailBlazer GM Envoy Land Rover Discovery III (also known as LR3) Honda Pilot Ford Explorer Isuzu Trooper Mitubishi Montero (also known as Pajero) Patrol is not available in United States, we have big daddy called Armada good enough to tow 4 tonnes of weight! In overseas market Patrol competes with Land Cruiser, Mitubishi Pajero, Chevy Tahoe. Pathfinder won Baja 500 in 1990 which is big in North America. However Nissan never participated in a big way in Dakar rally so lot of people know Pajero better than Pathfinder in Asia. Since I like nature, I actually take my truck off-road I have many adventure stories. One time we came across an old guy who brought his 2-Wheel drive vehicle on a rocky trail in Grand Canyon. His vehicle would simply not climb up the hill and he even punctured a tire while trying to climb. He had a disabled son and wife and sun was setting fast. I changed his tire and attached a tow rope to his vehicle and my Pathfinder pulled his vehicle up-hill on rough terrain with loose rocks. I've got picture of that too. He would have been in a big trouble if we were not there. Read More
