I have a fancy of reading classics. While going through many top-100-books-ever-written lists, I came across this title. It was on the top of every list. After much research I came across a few interesting facts, that I would like to share with you. This is the only book published...Read more

George Orwell I have listed him here because he was born in India. He is perhaps the best critic in this world. His essays - specially Shooting an Elephant - are included among the best works of this century. He was listed as the 2nd best British Author ever. His book Animal Farm is perhaps the b...Read more

George Orwell is one of the most celebrated writers in the world -- and quite rightly so. As my knowledge about him grew more profound, I was attracted to read two of his best works: Animal Farm and 1984; though I never got the pleasure to read the latter. While reading reviews of various boo...Read more

I read classics. Perhaps the only reason why I read this book was the hype surrounding it. Bit I was greatly disappointed. This is the worst book I have ever read. The worst part of this book is the style that the author uses. The least interesting style, street language. I wonder what makes ...Read more

Well, I didnt plan to write a review. I was just expressing my opinion. I think RK's book Malgudi Schooldays was very good. Simple but still good. It might be true that I am comparing him with other contemporary writers like Salman Rushdie, but still there was something about the book I simply ...didnt like. Next I will read 'The English teacher'. I hope I like itRead More

Before I write anything else, let me first warn you that this is not like any other novel that you read . . . it's purely different. Perhaps, that is why it has got such mixed response. Now, does it deserve Booker : Yes . . . more than any other book. It tells a sweet, cure, and simple story ...Read more

The language is simple and pleasing, like other RK books. It is perhaps interesting also like other RK books, but it suffers from a major flaw, or at least that is what I think. The incidents and a few characters are COMPLETLY unconvincing and unbelievable. It literally kills one's interest wh...Read more

In all respects I agree with you. The best part about this book is that it's immensly gripping, I just couldn't kepp the book down The worst part is that it fails to inspire you. It is a fairy tale whose glory can fade with time. It tries to inspire you, but only ends up passing your time.

To begin with, it was the first novel I had ever read. It not only changed my opinion about novels but also about english literature itself! Beginning from the first page, first word to the last page, last word it is a mesmerising piece of art. It is a fairy tale, no doubt. The world gulli...Read more
