The IRCTC site(www.irctc.co.in) made life easy for us frequent travellers. Earlier for booking a simple train ticket we had to go and stand in a queue at 6 AM in the morning. But about 1 year ago IRCTC upgraded(downgraded would be closer to truth) their site. It looks better now. BUT IT DOES NOT...Read more

My faithful Fiero Fx is now 5 years & 8 months old. I have done office on it regularly since buying. I am now married. Never for once regretted having chosen this horse for doing office, darting around, occasional adventuring and giving wife a thrill. It is still very smooth and gives me 55-58 kms/l... mileage. I had one piston-washer change. That corrected the over-heating & RPM problem. But TVS motors which had one of the best after-sales service & support record seems to have changed its policy lately. Or the management has simply run into the wrong hands. How can you stop producing spare-parts of a bike that you launched 6 years ago? I have searched around in Calcutta and also asked in Bangalore. No! chain-sprocket of TVS Fiero F2/Fx is not available. It amounts to the same old rotten formula! Mobile makers are today producing inferior quality batteries to sell their new sets(which have good batteries). Pentium2 & Pentium3 motherboards are not available today so that you are forced to buy a new PC. And TVS motors has stopped producing their older bike parts to push-sell their Apaches, Flames & Jives. What a shame! I want maximum people to know about this and circulate this. Let the manufacturers know that unless they give good after-sales service & support their advertisements and push selling will not pay off. It is all right to compete with other manufacturers regarding sales-figures. But policies should not be short-sighted. Ultimately your customer has to be satisfied. Honesty is the best policy in the long-term.Read More

To Sankoobaba: When u will do riding in heavy traffic conditions in city,it entails frequent braking & accelerating & twisting around. That means frequent gear changes - if u care for ur bike.So always look for a bike with the most dependable & easy gear shifts. This is an area where some problem is e...xpected later on from ur bike whether it be Harley-Davidson or Bajaj.Look for soft clutch that does not pain ur hand on long time clutching.Easy handling,i.e.,twisting & turning. Then comes brakes and tyre grip.Suzuki is a big name that excels in all respects.Suzuki machines, even very powerful racing ones are surprisingly low noise which I just love !! You will spoil your beauty if you ride it like that.A new bike won't make much complaining noise but...if u like ur bike take better care of it. I know many people ride their Marutis off from near 0 speed at 3rd gear turning a deaf ear to the engine's protests. They are plain lazy & bad drivers.Lear...n to identify ur engine sounds both healthy and unhealthy.Read More

Lot of hype on looks & style. No substance. If I am ready for a 35km/l bike then I go for a 200cc+ That's my practical opinion. And beauty lies in the eye of the beholder ! Is it F2 or Fx ? As far as I know Fx was not in production in 2001-2. Yes there are reasons to be satisfied with Fiero I agree. Did u ever change tyres in this time ?

Thanks for ur advice guys.I think Castrol Power1 is most probably of 10W30 viscosity.20W40 is probably best for our bikes.Check this link http://www.jalos.or.jp/onfile/pdf/4T_EV_LIST.pdf I am damn angry at my TVS Service Centre. This is the 3rd time they gave me Power1.And they don't keep any other....Grrrrrr !! Hey ! Why didn't I read your review before ? I just detected the Fuel Screw on my Fx.It is below the spring that returns the throttle cable and left side of the RPM adjusting screw. If ur bike's carburretor is feeding too rich or lean mixture,u can get an indication of that on inspecting ur spark p...lug too.A dark oily deposit indicates rich mixture. And a whitish deposit indicates over-heated engine - maybe due to lean mixture.Dry,deep brown(chockolate) deposit at the tip indicates everything is fine. I am tempted, but won't touch the carburretor's fuel screw for now as my bike is running fine.It comes well set from the factory.Still it is good to know...for I am the mechano type and like to adjust things by myself.I tighten(or loosen) the throttle cable, clutch cable, brakes, chain and set the idle RPM by myself.U can't always rely on hired mechanics. As u say, sometimes they spoil things and try to bluff uRead More

I think you go more by looks and hype than by seer performance. About mileage, well I got 60-64 when the bike was new and still get the same after 1.5 years Even if I buy a 2nd one I shall keep this Fx.There still isn't a better choice in its segment.

Hey is this Fiero Fx u r reviewing or some earlier Fiero? Agreed TVS tyres are slippery. But brakes on my Fx are excellent.Yes plain drum brake one.Get ur's checked.Skidding has a lot to do with riding skills.Braking is a skill that often even long time riders lack.Read this: http://www.mouthshut.co...m/readcomment.php?rid=79885&com=0&r=1 If u r wearing off ur brake lining then u use too much brakes.Learn to ride at all speeds with a minimal use of brakes.Harsh throttle twisting and hard braking is not good driving in my books. It simply spoils the quality of your ride besides reducing the life of ur engine. And heavy? Is there any other 150cc weighing 125 kg? Great weight distribution too.I can alone easily pick up the rear wheel off the ground.Read More

I like ur review.Fiero really performs. No antics. About body-balance argument: If u r a good rider and have been riding a bike for 6 months you know it so well that you can ride it past 100 even if it has poor weight distribution(or even a tilt to one side). So the argument is useless.Besides that... body balance defects are more evident at very slow speeds than at high speeds. The Fiero's balance is so good that I ride it one handed often in empty stretches. When coming down flyovers I press clutch(so soft) to disengage engine in top gear and always take off the right hand from handle.Have you ever seen any Pulsar rider do that?Read More

Hey this 2001 model is before the F2 came into the market isn't it? Yes the earlier Fieros had a number of problems it seems. Many people mention it.But with F2 and now Fx TVS has reached a level of refined excellence that Bajaj has yet to match.Every Bajaj bike has structural defects and stiff gears....And Hero Honda makes good bikes that gorge on the petrol.Read More

Hey Pulsarians don't be cross.I am seriously thinking of a second bike - possibly 2nd hand Pulsar 180 - especially for double rides. But I won't part with the Fx at any cost.In Calcutta traffic I have sometimes braked so hard that I have slid forward half way up the petrol tank of my Fx. The first... thing I will do on the Pulsar(when I buy it) will be to take it to those whizz kids in Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Street who can replace anything & everything and ask them to fix up a special seat that is ekdam level with the petrol tank's top.And I don't care if it spoils the looks.I am a bit cranky sort u see...And a higher handle may be...and the tank?!#@*?...
