Drinking Water on Delhi Roads

Posted on Feb 13, 2008 under General

Hi Guys, This time I intend to draw your attention towards the drinking water facilities on roads in Metro cities.

The Metro cities like Delhi faces many problems due to lack of drinking water specifically in summers. And when you are out of your home and you feel thirsty, then you can not find any source of safe drinking water, yeah but Pepsi/coke/mineral water bottles are available in abundance.
Though nowadays people use RO's and water purification systems and mineral water dispensers at home/offices. These facilities are still out of reach for many people.

By now most of the people must have seen so called 'Refridgerated Drinking Water Trollies (Sorry I didnt get any photo of the same so I had draw it myself.)
For a poor man, drinking water from a trolly, located on a footpath or bus stop or busy roads, is the only option.  The price is cheap : only 50 paise per glass + health.
Yes it's true because the same glasses are used by hundreds of people everyday.
And I myself have seen the way these 'Trolly wallas' wash these glasses.

They just hold it near a small tap which is not at the top of the trolly, but it is on your opposite side connected to a small water box having capicity of 7-8 Ltrs of cleaning water. But you would be amazed to see and observe that there is hardly any water in that box. They just take the glass from one person after he has finished and they pretend like washing the same glass properly to other person waiting to have one glass. However they just put a few drops and move hands as if they are washing it properly.

Normally their trick works because they have 8-9 glasses so they dont give the same glass to a new customer which was left unwashed by the customer who just left. But by the time you notice, you will realise that you are the proud owner of the glass which was used by anonymous people having severe infectious diseases and it was served to unwashed by the same fellow Trolly Walla.

Apart from the hygiene issue I really suspect the quality of the water catered to people.
This raises a few questions:

1) Is the cleanliness in these trollies ensured checked properly by any Govt authority on a regular basis.(I reallly dont think so...)

2) Are they procuring the drinking water from safe/ reliable source (Again I dont think so)

3) How pure is this water ? And what steps have been taken to improve/ ensure quality of the drinking water service.

3) How do they refridgerate the water, is it electric cooling or dirty factory ice  is mixed with water.

4) Whom to report all of these issues and how the culprit could be penalised.

Staying Late in Office....? PLEASE READ & THINK...

Posted on Feb 13, 2008 under General

Hey Guys this is really a thought provoking stuff..............

Narayana Murthy's views on staying late in the office

To: Dear All,

It's half past 8 in the office but the lights are still on...

PCs still running, coffee machines still buzzing...

and who's at work? Most of them??? Take a closer look..

All or most specimens are ??-something male species of the human

race...

Look closer... again all or most of them are bachelors ...

and why are they sitting late? Working hard? No way!!!

Any guesses???

Let's ask one of them...

Here's what he says... "What's there 2 do after going home... here we

get to surf, AC, phone, food, coffee.. that is why I am working late...

importantly no bossssssss !!!!!!!!!!!

This is the scene in most research centers and software companies ,  and

other off-shore offices.

Bachelors "time-passing" during late hours in the office just bcoz they

say they've nothing else to do...

Now what r the consequences. .. read on...

"Working"(for the record only) late hours soon becomes part of the

institute or company culture ...

With bosses more than eager to provide support to those "working" late

in the form of taxi vouchers, food vouchers and of course good

feedback,(oh, he's a hard worker... goes home only to change..!!). They aren't helping things too... To hell with bosses who don't understand the difference between "sitting" late and "working" late!!!

Very soon, the boss start expecting all employees to put in extra

working hours.

So, My dear Bachelors let me tell you, life changes when u get married

and start having a family... office is no longer a priority, family is ...

and that's when the problem starts .... becoz u start having commitments at

home too.

For your boss, the earlier "hardworking" guy suddenly seems to become a

" early leaver" even if u leave an hour after regulartime. .. after doing

the same amount of work.

People leaving on time after doing their tasks for the day are labeled

as work-shirkers. ..

Girls who thankfully always (its changing nowadays... though) leave on

time are labeled as "not up to it". All the while, the bachelors pat their

own backs and carry on "working" not realizing that they r spoiling the

work culture at their own place and never realize that they wuld have to

regret at one point of time.

* So what's the moral of the story?? *

* Very clear, LEAVE ON TIME!!!

* Never put in extra time " *unless really needed *"

* Don't stay back un-necessarily and spoil your company work culture

which will in turn cause inconvenience to you and your colleagues.

There are hundred other things to do in the evening..

Learn music...

Learn a foreign language...

try a sport... TT, cricket..... ....

importantly Get a girl friend or gal friend, take him/her around

town...

* And for heaven's sake net cafe rates have dropped to an all-time low

(plus, no fire-walls) and try cooking for a change.

Take a tip from the Smirnoff ad: *"Life's calling, where are you??"*

Please pass on this message to all those colleagues And please do it

before leaving time, don't stay back till midnight to forward this!!!

ITS A TYPICAL INDIAN MENTALITY THAT WORKING FOR LONG HOURS MEANS VERY HARD WORKING & 100% COMMITMENT ETC.

PEOPLE WHO REGULARLY SIT LATE IN THE OFFICE DON'T KNOW TO MANAGE THEIR TIME.

SIMPLE !!!
