All over the world, one hears of Amazon etc. killing off small bookstores and businesses and one feels sorry for the loss of a business which is well-run, knows and cares for their customers. I visited this place a few times for a swimming camp last year and it seemed to be good. The location is very central, and along with the central location comes the usual Bangalore parking problem. However I was told not to worry as they had ample parking for members. But unless you have a...Read more

Pros: Extremely compact but comfortable for all passengers (downside is boot space). Mileage in city as well as highway is extremely good. 12-13 kmpl in city easily and you can push 18-20 on the highway. Due to its unique size, it's very easy to drive and park in the city. Test drove an Xtrail extensively over the last few weeks. For an SUV, it's extremely stable, even while zigzagging from lane to lane. Very low body roll and practically no pitch. The features are pretty extensive as well - from powered seats, sun roof etc to a very clever storage area in the ...Read more

1. The word allopathy was coined by homeopaths as an insult. The word itself is meaningless. 2. As for the 'effects' of homeopathy, apart from the psychologic placebo effect, this poster says it all: http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/2009/04/best_anti-homeopathy_poster_ever.php

For a new car in the same price range, Maruti should have targetted the City. The City doesn't handle as well as expected from a Honda, but the build quality and interiors are a class above the SX4. Maruti messed up the original Baleno by misunderstanding customers who would have bought it - the...y went instead to the Mitsubishi Lancer and the Honda City. Logan isn't even in the same target market - they're after the Tata Indica/go crowd. Read More

I've seen exactly one public charging point at the Forum Mall, Bangalore for the Reva. Reserved parking, too. Pity about the range problem, but I'm not very surprised. The same disconnect between claimed and reality exists for all vehicles. I also wish the govt would get its act together and ...aggressively give incentives to manufacturers to improve such vehicles instead of taxing them to death. In Karnataka in particular, the roads are pathetic and the road tax is probably the highest in the country. Read More

This review would apply to any insurance company, not just HDFC. The only conclusion to be drawn from such reviews is that an employee or a DSA wrote it. What I'd like to see is a review by a customer. In my case, long before the matter closed, the disconnect between the words of the agents, ...and the written matter in the policy came out. Finally, it doesn't make sense to consider life insurance as an investment. It's insurance. If you want to invest, put it in mutual funds or stock or debt. Term cover is the best option - unfortunately since agents more a lot more money (20% or more of the first year's premium in the case of HDFC), they push the option which suits them. Read More
