Reviewed Eleven Minutes - Paulo Coelho

This man misses nothing. Not even the oldest profession to bring out his philiosphy of living a meaningful life. I read the book quite sometime back, but since I am in a mood to write reviews, have picked up this one. Without for a minute letting down the dignity of the protagonist, the au...Read more

Simply, just that -fascinating. Written in the first person, as the novel progresses, you can sense the deep anguish the protagonist feels without her ever saying it in as many words. It goes backwards and forwards, interweaving the present with the past, and the characters come alive through he...Read more

I saw only the second half of the movie, from the time Amir recupes at Kajol's place. It was gripping and intense. I couldn't take my eyes off them. Yes, they share tremendous chemistry, Kajol looked amazing and Aamir, as usual, was great(I would have hated seeing him in the first half, with tha...Read more

A bit late in the day, this review, considering we bought the CD almost around the time it came out. But, at that time, though we watched it a few times, my 2 year old was very scared of all the rakshas and the accompanying noise, and so it was literally shelved. Paulo Coelho has a way of writing that is simple, straightforward, and goes straight to the heart. Very strongly entrenched in spirituality, his tales do not preach and yet communicate so much! I loved the book from the word go. Be it the prologue, where he refers to the story of a cardinal a...Read more

I have been seeing this ad for more than a year and yet I never tire of it. A guy and a girl, dancing in a practically empty bar. Both dance well. I can't say much about Air India's services, not having traveled in one. But one must congratulate them on the ad, which sure makes for interesting watch. 1400 pages long with suspense, thrillers and disappointments. The author begins well and you have all the promise of this novel being a mixture of genres – crime, business, spies, love, sex – the works. This would be a culturist’s delight – delving deep into the histor...Read more

I have read a few of Charles Dickens novels - despite not particularly liking his brand of style of plots. A sort of melancholy and depression sets in, reading his novels. The best of the lot, however, is Tale of Two Cities. It starts on the right note, setting a perspective to the historical...Read more

Hey, it makes me sick watching these kids go to school. When I studied in school eons and eons ago, I had fun. I had time to play and hopefully developed some intelligence in the process. But then came the day when all kids could and would do is study in school, come back home and go for tuitions an...d then again, come back home and finish homework!! While I can't compare it with other education systems, I deffo agree that kids need to have other interests that they can pursue. But. I must also add that many schools are now awakening to this reality. While we are yet far away from a perfect balance, some of the more enlightened schools don't send homework home - why, even books! And, courses like crafts, sports etc are being encouraged. So, I guess we will hopefully have more rounded personalities coming out of these schools soon. And, I hope we also see the application side of training/education getting more importance. MeeraRead More
