Friends without Faces

Posted on Nov 06, 2008 under General

We sit and we type, and we stare at our screens

We all have to wonder, what this possibly means.

With our mouse we roam, through the rooms in a maze

Looking for something or someone, as we with in a daze.

We chat with each other, we type all our woes

Small groups we do form, and gang up on our foes.

We wait for somebody, to type out our name.

We want recognition, but it is always the same.

We give kisses and hugs, and sometimes flirt.

In Diaries we chat deeply, and reveal why we hurt.

We do form friendships - but - how, we don't know

But some of these friendships, will flourish and grow.

Why is it on screen that we can be so bold

Telling our secrets, that have never been told.

Why is it we share the thought in our mind

With those we can't see, as though we were blind.

The answer is simple, it is as clear as a bell.

We all have our problems, and need someone to tell.

We can't tell real people, but tell someone we must,

So we turn to the computer, and to those we can trust.

Even though it is crazy, the truth still remains

They are Friends Without Faces, and odd little names.

DOES HEAVEN HAVE A PHONE NUMBER?

Posted on Sep 20, 2008 under General

Mommy went to Heaven, but I need her here today,
My tummy hurts and I fell down; I need her right away,

Operator, can you tell me how to find her in this book?
Is heaven in the yellow part? I don't know where to look.

I think my daddy needs her too; at night I hear him cry.
I hear him call her name sometimes, but I really don't know why.

Maybe if I call her, she will hurry home to me.
Is Heaven very far away, is it across the sea?

She's been gone a long, long time; she needs to come home now!
I really need to reach her, but I simply don't know how.

Help me find the number please, is it listed under "Heaven"?
I can't read these big, big words; I am only seven.

I'm sorry, operator, I didn't mean to make you cry,
Is your tummy hurting too, or is there something in your eye?

If I call my church maybe they will know.
Mommy said when we need help, that's where we should go.

I found the number to my church tacked up on the wall.
Thank you operator, I'll give them a call.

|| Letter from GOD ||

Posted on Sep 10, 2008 under General

Some years back I found this beautiful poem and I preserved it with me. Wanted to share with all my MS Friends.
Please read the poem, visualise the situation and I am sure you will find how relevent this poem is in everyones life.

As you got up this morning,
I watched you,
and hoped you would talk to me,
even if just a few words,
asking my opinion or
thanking me for something
good that happened in your
Life yesterday. But you were
too busy, trying to find
the right outfit to wear.

When you ran around
the house getting ready,
I knew there would be a
few minutes for you to
stop and say hello, but
you were too busy to do so...
At one point for fifteen
minutes you had nothing
to do --- you ran to the
phone and called a friend
to get the latest gossip...

I noticed that before
lunch you looked
around, and I thought
maybe you felt emrarrased
to talk to me, that's
why you didn't bow
your head. You glanced
three or four tables over
and you noticed some of
your friends talking to
me briefly before they
ate, but you didn't. But
there is still some more time
left, and I hope that you
will talk to me yet.

You went home and after
a few chores you turned
on the television set.
I waited patiently again
as you watched T.V and
ate your meal. but again
you didn't talk to me.
Bed time I guess you felt
too tired. After you said
good night to your family
you got into bed and
promptly fell asleep...
You know, I've got
patience, more than
you will ever know.

I Love You so much that
I wait everyday for a nod,
prayer or thought. It is
hard to have a one-sided
conversation. Well,
you are getting up once
again. And once again
I will wait, with nothing
but Love for you.
Hoping that today you
will give me some time.
" Have a nice Day !".

The Book of Fate

Posted on Sep 09, 2008 under General

|| God kindly conceals the future from all, His creatures, and reveals only the present. He hides from the animals what men know and from men what angels know. It would be impossible for us to live in this world if each of us knew exactly what fate has in store for him.

If a lamb had reason like man, it could not play about merrily, knowing that it was about to be slaughtered. But, being ignorant of its fate, it is quite happy to the last minute, grazing heartily in the flowery meadow and even in its innocence licks the hand of the butcher who is about to slaughter it. It is a great blessing that we are ignorant of the future. To God the death of a sparrow is of equal importance as the death of a great man, destruction of small or big things, such as that of atom or galaxy, or the bursting of bubble or the crash of the world is all the same.

He has, in His mercy, limited our knowledge, so that we might fulfil our duty in the sphere to which he has appointed us. ||

Experience

Posted on Sep 09, 2008 under Management

A story of a mid-nineteenth century tells of a man who, upon meeting a friend, told him he was going into business.

" What sort of business ?" the friend asked.

" A Partnership ", the other replied.

" Are you putting in much Capital ?"

" No. I put in no capital. I put in the experience".

" And he puts in the capital, is that it ?"

" Yes. We go into business for three years. He puts in the capital and I put in the experience. At the end of three years, I will have the capital; and he will have the experience".

Today is Rishi Panchami

Posted on Sep 04, 2008 under Festivals

The month of Shravan is the fifth month of the Hindu calender and is the most auspicious month of the Chaturmas. On Purnima or fullmoon day, or during the course of the month the star Shravan rules the sky, hence the month is called Shravan.

This month is spread out with innumerably religious festivals and ceremonies and almost all the days of this month are auspicious. On this day of the Shravan full moon, stars are worshipped.

In Vedic times it was believed that the spirits of certain departed great sages of the earth inhabited certain stars, the most famous being the constellation Ursa Major i.e. the seven brightest stars of the north (The Great Bear).

Later, the seers became identified with the stars they inhabited. The seven worshipped on Rishi Panchami are - Kasyapa, Atri, Bharadvaja, Visvamitra, Gautama, Jamadagni and Vashishta.

The fast on the fifth day(Panchmi) of the waxing moon (shukl paksh)of Bhadrapad is undertaken by men and women alike. Its effect is to wash away sins done voluntarily or involuntarily.

The devotee should after a bath in the sacred water, clean his/her hands 108 times, the mouth 108 times and listen to the story of Ganesh, Navagreh, Saptarishi and worship Arundhati. Fruits should be eaten only once in a day

A certain king Sitasale asked Brahma to tell him of a fast, which would bestow the quickest result. Brahma replied that Rishi Panchami fast was the one such by virtue of which all sins are washed away.

He narrated the story of a virtuous Brahmin Uttank of Vidharba region. His wife was a devoted wife Sushila. They had two children, a son and daughter. The daughter was married to a young capable boy, but unfortunately became a widow soon. The parents made a cottage on the bank of Ganga and lived there with their widow daughter. One day while asleep the ants covered the body of the daughter. The parents were perplexed. The Brahmin through meditation found out that in previous birth, she had entered the kitchen on the day of menstruation. It is believed that on the first day of menstruation, the woman is Candalini (demon), on second day Bhramdhatini (witch), on third day a washer woman, and on fourth day after bath, she becomes purified.

Women undertaking Rishi Panchmi fast do not suffer from attack of worms and in all future births remain happy.

What's Life all about ?

Posted on Aug 29, 2008 under Inspiration

I was sitting on a beach one summer day, watching two children, a boy and a girl playing in the sand. They were hard at work building an elaborate sand castle by the water's edge, with gates and towers and moats and internal passages. Just when they had nearly finished their project,a big wave came along and knocked it down, reducing it to a heap of wet sand.

I expected the children to burst into tears, devastated by what had happened to all their hard work. But they surprised me.

Instead, they ran up the shore away from the water, laughing and holding hands, and sat down to build another castle.

I realized that they had taught me an important lesson. All the things in our lives, all the complicated structures we spent so much time and energy creating, are built on sand. Only our relationships to other people endure.

Sooner or later, the wave will come along and knock down what we have worked so hard to build up.

When that happens, “only the person who has somebody's hand to hold will be able to laugh.”

The Power of holding hands....
it's remarkable...
...just the thought of having someone can make a difference...

A Cap-seller and Monkeys
( Story continues... )

A cap-seller stopped for a nap under a tree. When he woke, he found that monkeys living on the tree had taken his caps and each of them was wearing one.
He was a clever man. Realising taht the monkeys were imitating all his actions, he removed the cap from his head and flung it down. All the monkeys did the same and the cap-seller got his caps back.
When the cap-seller grew old and was on his deathbed, he told the story to his son to illustrate how important it was for a trader to keep his wits about him.

The son was a cap-seller too. One sultry afternoon he found himself near the same tree his father had once slept under and succumbing to temptation lay down for a quick nap. When he awoke he found that all his caps had been taken by the monkeys. But he did not panic.
Had not his father retrieved his caps under similar circumstances ?
He knew what he had to do. He clapped his hands. All the monkeys did the same. He stamped his feet. All the monkeys did the same. He took his cap from his head and flung it down.
And, not one of the monkeys followed suit.
As he stood there gaping, the monkeys burst into laughter.
" Oh, you fool," said one of them, " do you think only you had a father ?"

Two Monks - A Zen Story

Posted on Aug 25, 2008 under Zen

Two monks were once traveling together down a muddy road. A heavy rain was falling. Coming around the bend, they met a lovely girl in a silk kimono and sash, unable to cross the intersection.

"Come on, girl," said the first monk. Lifting her in his arms, he carried her over the mud.

The second monk did not speak again until that night when they reached a lodging temple. Then he no longer could restrain himself. "We monks don't go near females," he said. "It is dangerous. Why did you do that?"

"I left the girl there," the first monk said. "Are you still carrying her?"
