Super Star Rajesh Khanna awarded Prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from Kamal Hasan in Chennai on 9-10-2009 at Ninth All-India Film Employees Federation Conference October 09, 2009
The ninth All-India Film Employees Federation Conference began amidst much fanfare in Chennai’s Trade Centre today (October 9th, 2009). The event was marked with the Bollywood actor Rajesh Khanna being awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement award. This award was presented by Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan. Earlier, Rajesh Khanna lit the traditional lamp to mark the beginning of the three-day conference and cultural fest.

The Deputy Minister of Information &Broadcasting Jagathrakshakan, director K Balachandar and a host of other technicians and actors were present at the venue during the inaugural ceremony.

Lifetime achievement award honour for Super Star Rajesh Khanna at IIFA 2009

The first superstar of Hindi cinema, actor turned politician Rajesh Khanna will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Videocon IIFA Weekend, which will be held at The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel from June 11 to 13, 2009 in Macau.

ith the Lifetime Achievement Award who has made innumerable contributions to Indian cinema, our sources reveal, keeping this in mind, the IIFA Advisory Board and the IIFA Management have zeroed down on Super Star Rajesh Khanna’s name for the tenth IIFA to be held at Macao.

Super Star Rajesh Khanna’s rise to stardom is considered phenomenal. One can recollect, from 1969 to 2009 (even today), the Super Star Rajesh Khanna phenomenon swept Indian cinema off its feet and the hysteria he generated was unlike anything seen before or even today, Super Star Rajesh Khanna made his Bollywood debut with the 1966 film Aakhri Khat, followed by Raaz and Baharon Ke Sapne. But his act in films like Aurat, Khamoshi and Aradhana cemented his status as the new super talent par excellence in the Indian film industry. In 1983, Super Star Rajesh Khanna displayed a spectacular performance with his role in Avtaar. After establishing his mega star status, blockbuster films followed one after another, and women all over the country swooned over him and the men aped him.

Producer-director Tony Singh (‘Left Right Left’ on SAB) is so impressed with his lead actor Rajeev Khandelwal’s “sense of commitment and dedication” that he has plans to make a full-fledged feature film with him .

In fact, Tony even invited Rajeev as a special guest, besides his protégée Mona ( Jassi) Singh, for the party to mark the telecast of the premiere episode of his show ‘Jeete Hain Jiske Liye’ (Sony). The show has Renuka Shahane staging her comeback after a hiatus.

Tony said, “I plan to make a romantic thriller with Rajeev. Every time I watch him performing his romantic scenes I am reminded of the legendary superstar Rajesh Khanna.”

Refuting reports that Rajeev is a ‘fussy, tantrum-prone actor’, who was soon poised to walk out from ‘LRL’ as he was dissatisfied with his role, Tony said, “On the contrary, he is so involved with his character that he shoots extra hours and was even willing to reduce his fees, if the show was going over budget. Being a serious actor who prefers a logical undercurrent in his scenes, Rajeev’s commanding presence on the sets keeps everyone on their toes.”

He added, “We are completing 125 episodes of ‘LRL’ shortly and there is no reason for Rajeev to quit the show.” Meanwhile Rajeev seems excited with the film offer.

“Why not? I am game to work in a movie directed by Tony because I share a personal bonding with him,” says Rajeev.

In 2001-2002, Rajesh Khanna played major roles in two television serials: Aapne Parai (B4U & DD Metro) and Ittefaqu (Zee TV).He performed in a video album based on Tagore's immortal songs (Rabindra Sangeet) free of cost. Currently he is busy in processing his own music channel viz. R.K. Music Channel.He has recently endorsed a talent hunt programme namely "Star se Superstar tak" as the First Superstar of Indian Cinema, under the banner of Red Carpet Entertainment and donated a Gold Trophy of Rs.1 Crore with Ms. Priyanka Chopra.Recently he has signed a TV serial with Creative Eye Banner (Dhiraj Kumar).He is also participating as Celebrity Judge in a reality show at Sony Channel called K for Kishore, based on the legendary singer late Kishore Kumar Ganguly.He is also going to perform in a T.V. Serial Bhabhima with Leena Ganguly as Lead Pair of the serial.
