Updates on the Policy after 7 Years: ============================ When i first wrote this review, SBI Life Shield plans were indeed one of the best and cheapest in the market. However, much water has flowed under the bridge since then. The customer service has been pathetic and other providers are... providing term insurance at a much lower cost. Infact, SBILife itself has come up with newer plans. The premiums have gone down by more than half for a particular amount of sum-assured value. However, the benefit of lower cost/ increased sum assured hasn't been passed to the older / loyal / faithful customers, which is a huge disappointment. (I guess none of the insurance companies do that in todays age and time) I have surrendered my SBI-Life policy (simply because it didn't made any sense to get trapped and locked in at a particular value when competitors can provide me a better deal) and i wouldn't recommend this policy to anybody at the moment. Hmm this review tells more about the callous attitude of the writer/ consumer than about the mall/ clothes department. Height of irresponsibility by the consumer.

After more than 7 Years of ownership, my Eterno is still going strong. Got rid of the clutch slippage and the starting problems long back. Parking is still a problem, but nothing beats the power, performance and the mileage. Damn good vehicle.

Dear Friend, I understand your problem as i have been through the same with Medi-Assist. And I did some investigations later-on to discover that Medi-Assist have a huge volume of cases and somehow the organization seems to be understaffed, besides their phone-lines are almost always busy. Besides,... the fault is normally with TPA's but also with hospital-administration, who prefer to delay things, just so that the patient has to spend another day in the hospital and they can fleece the room-charges off the patients. Normally, you see the hospital-staff's mouth watering, the same way a hungry fox looks at poor sheep, when they find someone with a good insurance coverage walking in for treatment in the hospital. Its unfortunate, but true. By-the-way, i would say that MediAssist is far better than TTP and some of the other TPA's. By-the-way, did i mention that Mediassist is not an insurance company buy merely a TPA (Third-party-administrator) in other words, middlemen of the insurance industry. You are free to your TPA without changing your policy. Read More

The author could have provided some more facts and figures. The present review seems to be a case of one-ups-manship of LIC over ICICI and seems a tad biased

Hey Thanks RVN for your comments, But my employer provides me with a medical insurance policy. Besides, i can buy additional insurance from New India Assurance for Rs 100000/- for as low a premium as Rs 2000/- That is the primary reason, i did not look around for the CI. Besides, once you claim for ...either CI or Disability benefits, all other riders come to an end. I will checkout Birla Sun Life never-the-less.. Its just the reliability factor.. I can trust SBI as the leading bank in India.. Can't say the same about other insurance providers though..Read More

Comparing the various term plans, with their options and flexibilities, I found the SBI Life Shield plan as a very interesting option worth looking at. I compared this product with LIC's Anmol Jeevan and Amulya Jeevan policies, HDFC standard life's policies and ICICI Prudential's term plans. Opt...Read more

I must admire the detail on the art of oratory that you have put in. Especially the technicalities and importance of breath control. Until 5 minutes back, i never knew that breath control is so important in an effective speech delivery. Keep writing more such reviews..

Thats what i meant by a lot of gray areas. Of-course, one would like to increase the sum-assured as time goes right? Your assessment of the fund values being sufficient to cover mortality costs through out the life of the policy is SPOT-ON. The way i look at it is as a double edged sword. If ...the markets crash, i lose. This is a distinct possibility but i am prepared for it. However, If the markets don't crash, the company loses. I get the survival benefits if i survive, but if i don't my family benefits immensely I agree that this is not a win-win scenario, but then in an insurance deal there can never be a win-win scenario correct? I want to avoid the hassle of paying a small premium in conventional term products every year. I know that there are ways to revive a policy by paying outstanding premium. But why shouldn't we try to avoid that situation al-together.Read More

I happened to revisit your review after a long time. And trust me, you've just put in words the things that i've been thinking and worrying all along.. Are you an insurance agent yourself? I am evaluating and re-evaluating protection plans and i find none of them very appealing.. Thats when i st...arted thinking about a unit linked plan as a protection vehicle for maximum protection. (of-course adviced to me by an insurance agent). I've heard a lot of bad things about ICICI-Prudential to trust their agents without verification.. Read More

Is there any other product or service that can provide me this level of flexibility and returns? I would appreciate your thoughts..

Thanks for your comments on my ICICI LifeTime review, which was more for the sake of clarifying my doubts. ICICI LifeTime can be self-sustained after 3 years of regular premium. However, under ICICI LifeTime2 one needs to pay premium for full 10 year. You are right, in that i can increase my ...policy by a maximum amount of Rs 1 lakh every three years. I am 30 now so if i do that for the life-time of my policy i can increase my sum assured by atleast 13 Lakhs. Now is there any catch in this, does the insurance company reserve the right to refuse the increase in sum-assured every three years. Life-Time 2 includes a feature whereby after 4th year the sum-assured increases by 15% every year till the 10th year. Is it possible again to increase the sum-assured every 3rd year by one lakh again in this product? Again this leaves me confused as to which product to choose, whether to go for lifeTime for lifeTime2? Please note that my main intention for the above policy is the flexibility to increase the level of protection and also the self-sustaining mode of operation. Where-in i don't have to worry about paying premiums anymore after a period of time.Read More
