i had to use some jargon.Sorry non tech readers. It was quite unevitable 'At very first there was a Red Hat Linux as the best linux.. After Red Hat Debian came after Debian SuSe' Sorry. The oldest surviving linux distribution is slackware. And i think debian is older than redhat (somebody correct... me if i'm wrong) 'Installing Network takes about 2 hrs.. ' What does he mean by installing network?? If he means setting up in a LAN it's usually just 2 commands usally ifconfig eth0 10.65.65.32 up route add default gw 10.65.0.0 (examples only. Will vary depending on your requirements.) and most redhat, suse, mandrake comes with nice gui interfaces which makes it much easier to set up a network than in windows. and if you are using dialup you can use kppp. 'Linux does not have more developing' I couldn't believe myself when i read this !! Linux/Unix is one of the best development environment unless you use MS languages.Name any non MS language and 99% of the time it will be supported in linux. And gcc is one the best compilers out there. 'But after releasing of Windows XP, Linux is again going down' how is releasing of windows xp affect linux security? Try telling windows security is better to millions of users infuriated by malware, viruses and trojans and hammered by spam due to countless windows zombie machines.!! AND GUYS/GALS. Just read his user profile. He's pro microsoft to the core !! Take this review with a pinch of salt. Linux is not for everyone. It's not yet ready for mass market as hardware vendors don't support linux much. But Linux is much much better than this guy makes it out to be. And if you are a budding programmer consider using linux. The knowledge will be invaluable. Comeone where else can you take a play around with kernel source code the holy grail of programming !! Either this guy hasn't researched or he he is very pro-microsoft. And one more reason to run linux. You needn't pirate !! i repeat .It'sRead More

Hi, I strongly disagree with your comment that Linux sucks on Desktop and that running X will causelinux to be as stable as win 95/98. That is the most ridiculous comment i hav ever head. I have use Rh 7.3,8.0 and 9 and Mandrake 9.0, 9.1, Suse, knoppix and countless others. I have never ever fa...ced a complete OS crash and only rarely an X crash.Yes,some applications crash at times but they don'tbring down the whole OS with it. if X crashes ctrl-alt-backspace will restart X in 99.99 of cases. regarding browser's you ought to try Mozilla Firebird. It has a windows too. KDE 3.1 ad the latest GNOME rocks, though still not as good as XP,but much better than win 95/98. regardi hardware dection what you said ipartially true.hardware supprt is not as good asindows' but it's much better now.RH9 detected my GFORCE2 MX card. regarding office softwa i don't use any so i can't mmend on it bui heard that opeoffice is good though a bit slow.If you want tuse MS office you can use Crossoveroffice which is a variant of wine. it has full support for MS Office 2000.You don't need windows on the sytem to install Office The installaion of RH9 ad MDK .1 is a breeze. i he installed win 98/XP and both tese nee severa reboots during installation there and there is no choice to choose software.(who wants Windows Movie Maker?) Overall i feel that linux is certainly ready for desktops. Read More

Mozilla Firebird (formerly Phoenix) is the best browser I have ever used. It's feature rich and yet it's small compared to most other browsers. the features of Firebird are 1)pop-up blocking You can block pop-ups selectively. That is you can configure firebird to allow certain sites t...Read more
