British writer Rachel Johnson, the sister of London Mayor Boris Johnson, is this year's winner of Bad Sex in Fiction Prize. She was handed over a bottle of champagne and a plaster foot (which, apparently, is supposed to be "an abstract representation of sex") at London's appropriately named In and Out Club. The Literary Review Bad Sex award was set up by the literary critic Rhoda Koenig and the late editor of the Literary Review, Auberon Waugh, in 1993 " to draw attention to the crude, tasteless, often perfunctory use of redundant passages of sexual description in the modern novel, and to discourage it. The prize is not intended to cover pornographic or expressly erotic literature, and is limited to the literary novel". It may have been started with the lofty aim of "gently dissuading authors and publishers from including unconvincing, perfunctory, embarrassing or redundant passages of a sexual nature in otherwise sound literary novels," but over the years, the award has created enough of a buzz around it. "All the passages this year are equally awful, but Rachel Johnson's struck us because of the mixture of cliche and euphemism," Literary Review's deputy editor, Tom Fleming said. "There were a couple of really bad animal metaphors in there." Source: Outlook

For long, long enough after the terror attack (I apologize for a lack of better word - for it was worse than just a terror attack), I have been thinking "To Write or Not to Write" - Shakespeare I apologize. Is it the right time, or should I say, is it the write time? Like the rest of Mumbaikars, I went into total depression, was glued to the television and even if I went to work, my mind was unresponsive to official matters. My first reaction was: FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE. KILL THESE BA$TARDS. While surfing the net I came across similar volatile reactions. A classic one doing the rounds is "Forgiving terrorists is left to GOD. But fixing their appointment with GOD is our responsibility". More: "Terror stands no chance against our Commandos." "East or West, India is best." "These terrorists are no match for our commandos. Jai Hind"! "Let us kill these terrorists." "What are our politicians doing?" Now last one, is pertinent. A lot of messages across the net spoke about the inadequacies of our politicians. The government, the ministers (PM, Defence, Chief Minister, opposition leaders etc) were all abused. But is this a knee-jerk reaction? Are we going to forget things once the wound heals on the exterior. The answer, I guess, is yes. Is asking for the head of the present government going to resolve issues? No! Then what is the solution? And wherein lies the problem? I think the problem lies in the lack of political will. Not this government, not the previous government and not the next government I am referring to, but the system in general. My biggest fear is not for now but for tomorrow. For the next 15 years, we will see a series of mindless arrests in which a lot of innocent people will be put behind bars and some will even be hanged. If this government continues then it will make a point about how it brought justice to the criminals and if some other jokers come to power, their main intention will be to prove that they did what the previous government could not achieve. And all along, we will be playing along with them and succumbing to knee-jerk reactions. Ladies and gentlemen, our real test lies now. We have the power of the net. Long after the furore settles down, we must continue to demand a safe society for ourselves. Keep writing blogs, keep asking for a saner, safer society. Kabhi to koi sunega. For us common folks, our main enemy is not the terrorist but an apathetic system which watches shamelessly while brave soldiers and innocent bystanders die in the crossfire between the terrorist and the system. Jai Hind does not mean anything if uttered only as a knee-jerk reaction. Life is not a movie, it is not A Wednesday. No common man will plant a bomb. You don't need to. You just need to keep voicing your opinion, continuously, long after the storm has subsided. It won't take long for another storm to engulf us. JAI HIND!!

Any one who goes to my profile page, does indeed look at My Favorite Quote: "Heterosexual intercourse is the pure, formalized expression of contempt for women’s bodies.’’ -- Andrea DworkinI have never hidden my orientation from anyone and people at MS are no exceptions. I respect other people's opinions but when people try to educate me, it takes my goat. Forget the goat, it also takes my hen, dog, cat, mice, anything. Some M2Ms are so hilarious. Sharing a few M2Ms with everyone here. Won't take names, but I'm sure the guys themselves will know that I'm referring to them. 1. Your favourite quote Is nice, but that is an opinion of a person. If not that, then you would never have been born.... would like to discuss things with you...of course if you have the time/energy to do so.. 2. I totally disagree with you on heterosexual sex. It is the only right thing and it has divine approval and blessing. It is the only tool for preserving purity in our world. We ignore it only at our own peril. 3. supporting female sexuality means you love sex?? :) 4. Hey mainmonalisahoonna, if u r that sexy den u should meet this sex symbol 2 find out what sexy means 5. Monalisa was also a potrait of a Gay.Ji haan aap Monalisa hi ho.But aapki photo aapko Gay se ziyada Lesbian bata rahi hai. 6. Women also like Doggy Style.Do you ever try this? I am ready. 7. Looking forward for days when men are raped Not complaining about these comments. Find them amusing. Thought at times can be irrittaing when people mistake a lesbian for a prostitute and ever on aag dame.

A few days ago, a sexy woman with her anatomy in place when to a disco with some friends. They let their hair down and had a great time in general. While she was doing jiggy-jiggy to the music with her friends and going slurp-slurp over beer, she was being scruitnized by a handome young fella. Their eyes met, sparks flew and they asked each other the question "Your place or mine?" Neither. They landed in the backseat of a car and started devouring each other, slowly, gradually, fabric-by-fabric. A point came when neither could hold it anymore, and the guy just headed southwards. He came up in shock. "You have .... BALLS." He withdrew from her as if stoked by fire. A WOMAN WITH BALLSThe woman went southward too and came up laughing. "And you don't have any". Moral of the story:1. A woman with balls shocks men. They find them too hot too handle. 2. A man with no balls doesn't shock or disappoint women with balls. They just laugh at such men. Cheers!

Gender sterotypes begin very early in life. Sample this poem which most of us have learnt very early in life. Sugar and spice and everything nice, That's what little girls are made of. Snips and snails and puppydog tails, That's what little boys are made of. A few random questions regarding gender stereotypes come to mind. 1. Why is the birth of a boy, even today, celebrated more than the birth of a girl? Unbelievable but true. Even today, a lot of homes lament on having a girl-child and celebrate when Mr Dick Head comes home. 2. Why are girls given toys to play and men the more macho ones like guns? I never played with a gun in my childhood and hence am obsessed with gunning down all doll makers. 3.Why is the education of girls not given as much importance as it should be? Even if girls are educated, how many are encouraged to pursue a career? 4. Why is a boy not appreciated if he cries? Men breaking down breaks the heart of all image perpetrators. 5. Why are girls considered more sensitive if they break down at the drop of a kerchief? The biggest victims and perpetrators of this image are the women themselves. 6. Why is giggling mostly associated with girls? Boys also giggle but distort their expressions while converting the giggles into ha-ha-ha's. 7. Why are girls supposed to be the homemakers? I know Manu made this rule, but puhleez, men are equally good homemakers if not more, when they prefer to be. 8. Why is a girl supposed to be submissive, at least on the day/night of her marriage? Any aggressive or normal reactions are not tolerated by anyone. 9. Why is a girl supposed to simply lie back and enjoy the guy-on-top position? I think this is the biggest sterotype. Women-on-top is highly pleasurable for both man and woman but rarely practiced because it challenges the man's superiority. 'Mr Dick Head at it again' syndrome. What does it mean to "Act Like a Man" in our society?
Macho, tough, stand up for self, in control, nothing stand in the way, don't back down, muscles, rough sports, men stronger than women, don't cry, get mean, sexually aggressive, strong, muscular, not nice or kind, be a leader and burp. What does it mean to be "ladylike" in our society? Polite, fragile, gentle, nice, kind, don't spit, sensitive, cry all the time, good manners, cross legs, shaven legs, passive, pretty, skinny, well dressed, don't fight, can't be smarter than guys, followers, smarter than men, confused, loyal, depend on guy. If Gender Sterotypes were not present, would Ekta Kapoor be so successful?
See ya guys and gals. Continue with the brickbats.

You're right. I've punned. People think Ekta Kapoor has sinned by remaking Mahabharata (you should have seen the Aaj Tak episode on Ekta's Kahani Hamaarey Mahabharata Ki - ROFL). Just Sanjay Bhansali sinned by remaking Devdas, Farhan Akhtar for Don and who can forget Ramu dear for Aag, Sholay forever. Some experts even decalred Sarkar Raj to be a remake (copy was the word they used) of Sarkar. bas bhai bas. Itni khunnas kaaye ko? Why always denigrate remakes? Chakkar yeh hai, people always assume that remakes are going to be bad when compared to the original. "Woh baat nahin," they jump to conclusions. Everyone is ready to pelt. Just 4 episodes and people have just decided to kill Ektaji. What was so good in the earlier Devdas and so bad about the new one? Don (the new one) is now getting as famous (if not more) as its original. People, remake films they do not restructure your DNA. So why get so belligerent? Maybe, its fashionable.

Sometime someone makes sexual passes at her and she sends Bulk M2Ms to us all. Then someone stalks her children and she posts a diary and we are so gullible that we give her our support. Show us what was written. How many times did this member write to you? 4, 8, 10, 100 times. That is stalking. Did you write to MS CEO or Support before coming up with this post? Our lady keeps flirting with everyone in sight and then screams murder, rape, secual abuse and now stalking. I have been on MS for a long time and have seen a lot of such natak. Take a chill pill lady. You need psychiatric help. Buzz off. Faisal Ban her. - Rohini

Sachin has turned 35 years today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SRT. Now the million $ question. Should he retire? Haan ki naa? I think he should. Too old in today's times and too unfit. Never with the team when it needs him the most. But that is my opinion. What is yours?

Have been around for close to four years on MS. All these years I have seen a generation come and go. Some of the members (active writers) are brilliant, some good-to-average and some whatever.
Lekin kuch aise hain whom we can safely call mischief mongers. They come here, have some fun and then disappear only to reappear in some other avtaar.
Some great masti-khors whose names and ids I can easily recall are
ghaznavi, iamthebest or something-like-that, juggernaut (ekdam paagal - always fighting with members and MS also), then this jbz - I remember how he and alk_ranjan had got into a massive dispute, calling each other untterable names and stuff, amrita (is she still around), kamini (or kameenee as some call her).
More recently there is this babe with a prefix to Dixit-Nene and a suffix of Sing^. Does she sing? Oh yes, she does - "Bacaho, abla naari ki izzat bachao (Don't rape this hapless, innocent woman)."

She's Hot She's a looker She's Sizzling She's a MS member She was what she is not now (changed 'id'entitiy) She solicits favours She claims to be a feminist She shouts virtual sexual abuse I once had a lot of respect for her. Lost it all now. Because she has lost it now. Who's she? Bolo bolo kaun hai woh!
