A beautiful book ! A Beautiful Mind - Sylvia Nasar
thanks ! yeah, some of Nash's actions are really inexplicable and very puzzling but in the light of his illness probably pardonable. He might not be a good person but he certainly has a great mind which is evident in the ways he tackled problems. So, for me, title is still justifiable but probabl...y incomplete ..could have been 'a beautiful mind with a strange heart'. alok Read More

A beautiful book !
(Updated Oct 30, 2004 12:51 PM)
?A beautiful mind ? written by Sylvia Naser is an excellent account of human grit and gumption and is a celebration of undaunting human spirit. The book is a sign of hope for the ?faithful(s)? ?for those who still believe in rationality, who still get high on abstracts and search for the meaning...Read more

To wish to satiate human desire completely is like wanting for Holy Grail and Manoj K. S, it seems has learnt his lesson well. Had he succumbed to the wishes of lesser mortals , products of today?s art-deprived , hugely commercialized world , we would have witnessed , not a master piece like ?Th...Read more

The extreme ! Mrs. Dalloway - Virginia Woolf
thanks for your comment . well,I had almost started doubting if there are enough admirers of VW. Thanks for telling me about the book .I will definitely try to get hold of the book and incase if I dont make it then I know where to contact. I have read 'to the lighthouse' (I guess thats the name) ....It was 2 years back and I found it very deep and in a way more mature than Mrs dalloway. I'll check about Penelope.. BTW..thanks for writingRead More

Yuva 'a different attempt' Yuva - Bollywood
I agree! I was very apprehensive after reading all those reviews that youtalked about but then I thought what the heck - If I can watch 'main Hoon na' then Ican certainly watch this Mani ratnam's flick. And my my-It was great, different, original and fresh.I liked it alot.rani and Abhishek are uperb an...d so are ajay, kareena and Vivek oberoi. So the conclusion is that these reviewrs are a bunch of nuts who doesnt know a straw about art.No reaon Art in India couldnt flourish due to absence of such ctitics who can act like guards of Art's temple. good work.btw Read More

The Naive American The Quiet American - Graham Greene
hi there, you wrote a good review but I think you got it wrong. The book never targetted only americans.it questions the very involvement of foreigners in the domestic affairs of Vietnam.Author equally questions the involvement of France as well. And contrary to what you feel I dont think Greene has ...used the characterisation symbolically, at least he never claimed for it and neither it is obvious.Infact,Pyle and Fuong were very uncharacteristic of America and Vietnam of that time. Greene at best has tried to evolve a wonderful story out of the whole Viet imbroglio with certain political connotations. A reader realizes this once he is halfway through the novel. I ,personally enjoyed the novel for its human factor rather than dry political hints.Read More

Who is the best among the Big 3 of Indian cricket? Rahul Dravid
For me sachin is still the best.Very often the present clouds our opinion esp. when we are talking about 'greatness'. Sachin may not bein the best of the forms now a days but he has been there and done all.And his contribution to the game is also monumental .To be consistent like him is nothing sho...rt of greatness. We underrate sachin's performance because we expect alot from him.just forget all that we have heard of Sachin and then compare and let me know whom do you find the best.Dravid has certainly played some memorable innings but the fact is Sachin ahs played more .Read More

I was surprized not to find this book in the database of Mouthshut. I had to suggest the book to be added here and since its added now, the onus lies on me to write the first review so here I am. Frankly -among the new age authors I am yet to find someone better than Rushdie who has the best ...Read more

The Non-passion of Mel Gibson The Passion of Christ Movie
I agree with you that movie doesnt do justice to the hype generated around it.But then any movie fiddling with the religious history is bound to prod the hornets nest . The excessive violence is unwarrented but then this is what happened in the last 12 hours of jesus' life. However the worrisome i...ssue was feud between religions that this movie incited.this is ridiculous -why to fight over something that happened thousands years ago(if happened at all) .Even if it were jews who killed Jesus doesnt mean that they should be persecuted through centuries. The horror stories of torture by christianity is also there in history and for that matter no religion can escape the charge that at some point or other it went berserk..so lets skip all that crap and enjoy the Art that is the pasion ofr christ..!Read More

why are you so disappointed with the book ?Dont mind..but in this era of fancy the mere notion that art can be simple and classy both, is often forgotten. I beg to differ but this book is gripping and the reader enjoys every bit of it.And as somebody said -dont get disappointed.its a fiction and th...at is also a form of art.Enjoy the way it should be enjoyed and you can do it by not putting your expectations and Booker's hype in the way.Read More

Dare to bang the hype of Banglore! Bangalore
well, so many comments and many just like the way I ould have liked to say but anyway-your review to Banglore is totally onesided. All I would like to say that for every one negative of Banglore I will tell you ten about Delhi or Bombay.I have been to all these places many times and have explored alo...t and no, I am certainly not being prejudiced as I am a north Indian myself. Its only yours extremely one sided brash review that forced me to write so. All I would like to say-dont expect India to become Singapore overnight and certanly not with such extremely lopsided negative criticism.Banglore is thousand times better than many cities in India ,if only they could take a cue from it, India will be closer to your dream.Read More

Its certainly more than that. The book was a let down for all those who were looking forward to another...Read more
