Thanks for this review. My liking for the new Bond OST was instant. Shame that it is not part of the official album. Chris Cornell / David Arnold have done a wonderful job. I was not too impressed by the way it is shown on the screen. Bond film needs silhouttes of naked women, spraying bullets in... slow motion and guns in the title sequence. Even the gun barrel looked different. For those want to listen to this track, its available (only for listening) at Imeem.com. Search for 'You know my name'.Read More

Everyone, As I am getting many queries about A&N, I have added a rejoinder to the review. Please read. Here are some more tips: How much money do I need to visit Andamans? It depends on individual's preferences. Here is a ball park estimate PER PERSON (Don't hold me for this as this is just a...n estimation as of Oct 06). Airfare : Apprx Rs. 5000 return trip, per person, from Chennai or Kolkata (booked 3 months in advance, Air Deccan or any other LCC) Accommodation for 6 nights : Apprx Rs.6000, (a/c, double) Sightseeing and transfers : Apprx Rs.2000 Food, Miscl : Roughly Rs.13000 to 14000 to do it comfortably in high season. What about medical care, communication, internet etc?: There are some 'clinics' of practicing doctors dotted across Port Blair. One can visit them for small ailments and infections. GB Pant Hospital is the only big medical facility for whole of Andamans. BSNL and Airtel GSM coverages are available in Port Blair, Rangat, Maya Bunder and Diglipur. Airtel was commissioning an antenna at Havelock when I was there. So it should be available at Havelock too. STD/ISD PCO booths are all over the islands. There are few internet cafes in Port Blair at Aberdeen Bazaar and Middle point. Most of the resorts now offer internet services.Read More

Thanks everyone for your comments. To shyamnambiar, Yes, it was an online booking. I got a return trip for Rs.2.5K (all incl). Sadly those days of cheap fares are gone now. However Deccan has now put Rs.6 tickets for sale. Go and grab them. If you are lucky, you may get them even cheaper. Good luck.

I got this somewhat "crazy" idea of visiting Andamans in August, the mid of low season. My idea of the trip was to spend 1 week in the south Andamans, exploring some nice snorkelling spots. I got a really good deal from Air Deccan (ex Chennai) to Port Blair which helped to firm up my fickle mind...Read more

I hope most of you will find this useful. I recently did a trip to Lakshadweep islands arranged through SPORTS (Lakshadweep tourism). The flavour of this tour was titled ''Coral Reef''. It was a 5 day / 4 night trip covering 3 islands, Capital Kavaratti, Minicoy and Kalpeni. You can get more det...Read more

Well, its easy to say renaming is a chauvnistic action etc. Its all happening because locals fear they are being swept away by the immigrant crowd. Clearly immigrants seem to have no regards whatsover to local language or local culture. You just need to listen to local radio station to get a taste o...f what the city has become. If renaming is to be prevented, then let it be applied secularly across India. Let Chennai be called Madras, Kolkata as Calcutta and Mumbai as Bombay. This will get some solid moral ground to harp on B'lore.Read More
