Dec 28, 2009 03:19 PM 46420 Views

I have a Hercules top gear for about a decade now. It was a gift from my friend. I used to be in Bangalore where a gear cycle is very useful considering that there are lots of slopes in Bangalore. I grew up in chennai which has more or less flat terrain and hence the need for a gear cycle is not...Read more

I have bought D280 fridge 4 months ago. I selected it because it is frost free and was the cheapest 2 door 280L model . Did you know that Kenstar is a videocon product. The service support for both brands are nearly the same and are outsourced. It is totally a luck to have these products running. Years before, videocon produced some of the best semi automatic washing machines. I had one that worked 12 years and final...ly broke down one day. I means literally came down and collapsed because of rusting on the body. But these days, despite competition, the product quality is not so good at all. However, I too have a Kenstar LF 210 washing machine for the last 1.5 years. So far so good. Touch wood.Read More

I owned a Maruti Esteem for 2 years(2002, 2003). It was a second hand car(1995 model) without power steering. It gave me a mileage of 12KMPL in city suburbs and 16KMPL on highways. I lived in the suburbs then and rarely had to drive bumper to bumper in the city. I rarely used AC as it wasnt s...Read more

I have been using the TVS XL Super for about 7 years now(21000KMS). I do the maintenance and servicing on my own. It is a good bike, never has broken down. But electricals are very poor. I have had frequent headlight failures in its early life. The light would glow when the handle bar is turned ...Read more

Just forgot to add a note. If your piston was bad, then it wouldnt have given you better mileage. So you can stop suspecting your piston or cylinder

Do not replace a piston or cylinder for your problem or donot even decarbonise them at the start. Just de-carbonize the exhaut pipe first and see the improvements. There will be a lot of clogging of carbon due to its age in the exhaust port and pipe which prevent the gasses from rushing out fast eno...ugh before the next power stroke in the cylinder. Just remove the exhaust pipe and literally set it on fire (with some kerosene, dung cakes, wood trash etc). This will make all the particles inside the pipe burn thorroughly and open up the inner diameter all along the length of the pipe even in places where it bends. Pour a little kerosene inside the exhaust pipe also before setting it on fire so that it facilitates the burning. The silencer need not be part of this bonfire as most of the accumulation of carbon is near the exhaust port end of the pipe. If you cannot separate out the exhaust pipe and the silencer, just put all the burning material only on the pipe end and leave the other out. Keep the bonfire alive for atleast 30 mins. Fit the pipe back again with appropriate gasket to the cylinder. Most of your problem will be solved. This is the cheapest solution and it solves 80% of the problem and it is do-it yourself if you have a couple of spanners and materials for bonfire. Remember, gasket is very important when you fit back (apply some shellac on the gasket before you fit back). Otherwise your bike will sound like diwali cracker.Read More
