Reviewed 8 X 10 Tasveer Movie

Apr 04, 2009 07:36 PM 3196 Views

(Updated Apr 05, 2009 12:44 PM)

Nagesh Kukunoor should realise after Tasveer that he isn't up to it. He should stick to his forte, which is human drama, mellowing down spectacular scenery to fit his laid-back narrative, faint negativity in everyday characters and the innate good natured humour in all of us. OK, most of us! I m...Read more

Hey! Thanks for liking my review of the movie. That was a very nice thing you said! Yeah, I actually feel an intelligent movie maker explains his plot through the title more than anything else.! For ex. 'Kill Bill' - how much simpler can it get! The entire 2 movie series was about the Bride tr...ying to kill Bill! Mithya that way, was a very apt and explanatory title for the movie's story...Read More

@CoolWater Yeah, there aren't many flaws too. But I sort of specialize in criticism! I like the movie a lot and am planning to watch it once more... to capture it more clearly. Bt what was the ending u expected?

yeah! but when reality tries to show itself occasionally, to emerge from this illusion.... qayamat! That's what the movie is all about! Definitely a lot of food for thought. I have been thinking of it since yesterday!

When truth makes an appearance once in a while, you wake up and wish things were normal again. But is everything normal just an illusion? Rajat Kapoor's Mithya raises several questions about what is truth and yes, what moviemaking is all about. Mithya is a dark comedy; comedy dries up in the ...Read more

Wonderful thoughts! Though I'd give a million pennies to anyone who can pen down the shop keeper's perspective! I mean, he'd have his own set of tips to deal with bargainers and 'how to get a better deal out of the best bargainer' course!!! Lively topic!

Jaago Grahak Jaago! LOL... quite an anguish filled review! But are you suicidal or just constrained by choice? I never watched the serial beyond an odd episode that was painfully imposed on me when I went visiting, and was too nice to ask my host to change the channel. Just chuck it, I say, if ...you don't like it. The remote's got enough buttons and the TV, its choices. What say?Read More

To see a guy like Nagesh K trying to cross over is like a deja vu of Avril Lavinge's suicidal make over! Not that I have a problem with his trial or intent. It is just that he tried to do a David Dhawan and made only a half hearted attempt at it. He should try RGV or even KJO genres instead, ...Read more

Kane, I think u take ur dislike for amir too seriously! I haven't seen the movie yet, but ppl I trust most hav come 2 me and said it is impossible to not cry in this movie.. Amir may not be a perfect human being, but I'm sure he is shrewd enough to separate self-indulgence from commercial success......! Which he has done all his career.... U quote Lagaan, which is a great example too!Read More

I think the whole point of the movie was, there's a certain stereotype in real life played by Imaad and another one played by Shreyas. So you pick n choose who's got the right goods! I can see you picked Shreyas, Bhavna! Only, you started picking on Imaad also! LOL.... Anyway, I feel Imaad's char...acter is certainly a bad influence on cinegoing masses. And there was no attempt to condemn it or show him as repenting his actions, which is where the problem lies I guess!Read More

Hi. You got the point right that the movie had a realistic story. But all the same, I feel it is still a badly made movie since it never connected to any sizeable chunk of viewers, and a failure in that sense. If it were a movie appealing to a niche segment of viewers, it never made that point clear....Read More
