What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments,

but what is woven
into the lives of others.

- Pericles

This post & quote is dedicated to losses in the families of near and dear ones at MS.
They touched the lives so beautifully that the voids left behind shall be difficult to be filled, but it is their acts so woven in the lives of others that they will live forever with us.

May God give strength to the families to overcome the grief
and
May Peace be to the departed Soul!!

It’s a Mad Ad World….!!!

Posted on Nov 16, 2008 under General

It was normal to arrive a good 30 minutes prior to show timings at theatres (read single screens) for the thrill of entertainment was in the previews to the forthcoming movies (trailers/teasers) & large view of colored adverts that we saw on a 20” B/W at the neighbors’ living room at their discretion in silence. The lure was the attractive settings in which simple things of daily use (read FMCG) like tooth paste & the morning tea brand was marketed. On the large screen it seemed so different & that too in color….

Put together is one such sequence, where it was so tough to conclude what actually was being portrayed by the Ad Gurus; & the guessing game continued all through the 3 odd minutes of its run.

ENJOY … the scene

Hauntingly dramatic music in the background is playing with overtones of the bugle and flute interspersed & the Crimson Sun rising over the dessert from behind a thorny bush
Must Be SUNRISE COFFEE…No!

The sound of a 100 hooves follows a whirring motor & dust rises like a storm
Must Be RAJDOOT MOTORCYCLES…No!

A faint shadow over the dunes begins to get darker as a ray of light is seen
Must Be PHILIPS BULBS…No!

But the bright light is from the headlamps of a vehicle fast approaching
Must Be LUMAX LAMPS…No!

A vehicle in all grandeur arrives
Must Be MAHINDRA JEEPS…No!

Focus shifts to the right shining painted panels
Must Be AJANTA AUTO PAINTS…No!

It comes to a grinding halt and camera is at the tyre
Must Be BRIDGESTONE…No!

Door opens & a leather shoe appears
Must Be HUSH PUPPIES…No!

The polish glistens
Must Be CHERRY BLOSSOM…No!

Guy steps out in an immaculate suit
Must Be RAYMONDS…No!

He removes his shades
Must Be RAYBAN…No!

The wrist watch is shining
Must Be ROLEX…No!

Puts his hand in the jacket to get a pack of ciggies
Must Be RED & WHITE…No!

Strikes a match
Must Be CAT MATCHES…No!

In a couple of steps swings his jacket over the shoulder
Must be an ad for CHIRAGDIN SHIRTS…No!

Another set of steps leads on to marble stairs
Must Be ASHAPURA MARBLES…No!

Durban greets and opens the door
Must Be TAJ HOTELS…No!

The door is toughened glass
Must Be TRUTUF ad…No!

He enters and walks over an intricate floor piece
Must Be AHUJA DURRIES…No!

Walks past a large bouquet
Must Be FERNS & PETALS…No!

Presses the lift call button
Must Be OTIS…No!

Lift opens, out runs a boy tagging behind a colorful toy
Must be LEO TOYS…No!

The music is soft inside, he looks up
Must Be BOSE SPEAKERS…No!

Reaches the floor, walks out just turning to see the door as he walks past
Must Be ARK LAMINADES…No!

There is a smart light arrangement in the passage
Must Be KAPOOR LAMPS…No!

He knocks at Room 501
Must Be WASHING SOAP BAR 501 Ad…No!

A Lady in a flowing flowery saree opens
Must Be GARDEN VARELI…No!

As they exchange pleasantries, he feels intoxicated
Must Be CHANEL No5…No!

She turns her head and swish go the loose hair
Must Be TIARA SHAMPOO…No!

The lips are glossy
Must Be LAKME…No!

She combs her hair back
Must Be PARAG COMBS…No!

And then runs her enameled fingers thru’
Must be FEM NAIL ENAMEL…No!

He moves to the centre of the room and picks up the remote,’Click’
Must Be EVER READY…No!

The TV switches on
Must Be NIKITASHA…No!

He bites into a biscuit from the plate
Must Be MARIE…No!

He moves towards her and she turns away
Must Be WHISPERS…No!

He smiles convincingly
Must Be KAMASUTRA…No!

She disapproves and frowns
Must Be ASPIRIN…No!

He smirks his lips naughtily and tears his favorit pouch
Must Be NAVRANG PAN MASALA…No!

She runs away from him
Must Be WOMANS BOURNVITA…No!

He leaps on her like a Rhino
Must Be ASSAM OIL…No!

Her Kohl lined eyes are infuriated
Must Be MALLIKA KAAJAL…No!

He runs his index and thumb over the clean chiseled jaw line
Must Be OLD SPICE…No!

She fumbles and falls tugging the bed spread
BOMBAY DYEING…No!

He is sprawled on the floor
SPARTEK TILES…No!

She sits up and removes her slipper
MARIE CLAIRE…No!

His hand is on her shiny smooth waist
NO MARKS CREAM Ad…No!

She looks into the mirror
Is it ATUL MIRRORS…No!

He grabs her by the saree at the petticoat…

There is a star burst and black out with the same opening music score playing again..
the hauntingly dramatic bugle interspersed with the flute,
only a little louder though this time...

Affenpinscher - Appie Birdies to you!!

Posted on Nov 16, 2008 under General

Now here begins a love story with the most humble and faithful domesticated pet. In a short series on Dog Breeds lets see some unusual canines in a brief description.

I dedicate this post to SAJITH S ( and now whatever the S stays there for is upto him to decide whether to disclose or not)

But Heres Wishing him
MANY HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DAY FOR THE 18TH NOVEMBER WHEN HE TURNS ONTO THE 32nd CHAPTER OF HIS LIFES AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Affenpinschers are German Origin.

Affenpinschers are different from terriers. They are playful but at the same time they are active, adventurous, curious, and stubborn.

In France the breed is described as the "Diablotin Moustachu" or moustached little devil. They are actually part of the pinscher-schnauzer.

It is wiry-haired terrier. Its coat is shaggier over the head and shoulders forming a mane, with shorter coat over the back and hind quarters. Affenpinschers need to be groomed two to three times a week.

Affenpinscher are prone to Collapsed trachea and Hip dysplasia. Hip dysplasia a disease that can eventually cause crippling lameness and painful arthritis of the joints. It is caused by genetic factor. Collapsed trachea can be avoided by walking the dog with a harness .

They weigh around 3 to 4 kgs.

They grow upto 30 cm.

Pssst...The rest of the post on the Pet has nothing to do with Sajith OK, Its just that he posted a very dear post today My brother on his pet dog, whom he remembered so dearly as he crosses from 31 to 32yrs on Tuesday.

Mohabbat.........kar lo !!!

Posted on Nov 16, 2008 under Shayri

Jo rishtey dil se judhte hain unnhe todha nahi karte
Kisi ka saath raste me kabhi chhodha nahi karte

Kahin iss se tumhare haath zakhmi na ho jayein
Jo toote aaina kabhi to phir isse jodha nahi karte

Koi toofan teri kashti ko kabhi dooba na de
Manchali maujon ka rukh kabhi modha nahi karte

Tijarat ke falsafon per Mohabbat ki nahi jati
Mohabbat me kabhi jazbaaton ka sauda nahi karte

Sitam karna Mohabbat per, yeh hai aadat zamaane ki
Zamaane ke sitam per kabhi yeh dil todha nahi karte

Mohabbat ke usoolon me,yeh pahla usool hai apna
Hum apni Mohabbat ko kabhi Ruswa nahi karte

Jis se Mohabbat karte ho uss se Jhooth na bolo
Mohabbat mai kabhi Khayanat kia nahi karte

I found this as a very simple, touchy poem and wanted to share with you all!

Me, Myself & I !!!

Posted on Nov 15, 2008 under General

New age success is all about ME, MYSELF & I...dare to disagree with these 15 commandments and you are bound to be left lagging behind..
I am sure you have more to add on and the list shall become ever competitive and helpful for the management gurus to challenge for hard working and successful professionals in any industry...
I am sure I may be disregarding thoughts of many of you but dare to defy these....and I will be pleased to be corrected in solemn silence, as always...without a whimper !!

1. Think about yourself.
2. Talk about yourself.
3. Use the personal pronoun "I" as often as possible in your
conversation.
4. Mirror yourself continually in the opinion of others.
5. Listen greedily to what people say about you.
6. Insist on consideration and respect.
7. Demand agreement with your own views on everything.
8. Sulk if people are not grateful to you for favors shown to them.
9. Never forget a service you may have rendered.
10. Expect to be appreciated.
11. Be suspicious.
12. Be sensitive to sleights.
13. Be jealous and envious.
14. Never forget a criticism.
15. Trust nobody but yourself.

Have deliberately put all in Bold and Italics and request all friends at MS to kindly contribute....Your appraisals are only 4 months away and there could be lessons learnt here for the PLI which is so important in this disgusting economic situation, OK the inflation has marginally begin to creep southwards, but how much of a difference does it make!!

That much Gyaan for now and the weekend to ponder over for my 400th DP at MS!!

How to HUG !!

Posted on Nov 15, 2008 under General

Recently there was a post on MS as to What it is to Hug someone or Why is it that we Hug someone but do we know How we must Hug someone...Well here it is !!

Hugs are an important expression of affection. By hugging someone, you remind them that you care about them and support them.

Depending on the person's relationship to you, you might want to approach differently:

Family Hug: You can keep talking when hugging; it will not ruin the momentum. Where you place your hands is not important; the hugged won't think it over too much. Press gently; it is not necessary to have head-contact. Stroke your hands quickly across the top of the hugged's back. Smile when letting go.

Friend Hug (girls): Close your eyes and think about how much you love your friend when hugging. Press as much as you feel like. (But don't squish!) Do not clap the hugged on the shoulders or such; it's too masculine and some girls think you don't like them if you do it the guys' way.

Friend Hug (guys): Embrace strongly, and clap each other on the top of your backs. If it's an emotional moment, keep in the hugged position for a brief moment and do not clap each other's backs.

Crush Hug: Press the hugged warmly towards you. If you are a man, remember that it is more masculine and more protective to fold your arms under hers. Her arms should be around your neck, and you should be embracing her around the waist. When pressing her against you, you can lift her up a bit, pressing her chest and upper stomach against yours. Keep it in that position for a while, and then let go. Look her in the eyes when you separate and continue the conversation naturally.

Lover Hug:
1) Males:
Carefully sliding your hands down from her shoulders, put them on her waist and slide them around her lower back. Put your head on her shoulder and press her towards you for as long as you like. If you want to, you can give her a small massage with your hands, and try to warm her. When separating, you can look into her eyes, smile genuinely and, if the situation is fitting, kiss her.
2) Females: Extend your arms toward him and hold them around his neck and shoulders. Lean as close as possible and press your torso against his. In situations of extreme intimacy, interlocking your leg in his is appropriate. Avoid holding your arms below his shoulders and/or embracing strongly and tensely.

Don't hug too tightly. The best way to judge how tightly or loosely to hug is to let whomever you're hugging indicate what they want by how hard they squeeze. If they are soft, be soft back; if they like bear hugs and squeeze tightly, hug back the same way (but don't suffocate him/her).

Don't let go too early. A hug is a powerful way to communicate your caring for another person, as it can feel great and greatly improve one's mood. If someone hugs you, they may want a long, loving hug (maybe they are upset or down), so just go along with it and hug them until they let go or loosen their hold.

And now do we have some more suggestions flowing in???

Quote 151108

"A life lived with integrity - even if it lacks the trappings of fame and fortune is a shining star in whose light others may follow in the years to come."
~Denis Waitley~

Lets commemorate this day with the Chandrayan - 1 landing on Moon and placing the Indian Tricolour there as the Sixth nation in the world to achieve this.
Last night before the Childrens Day ended, they were able to get a perfect landing and now this will imbibe the spirit of wanting to achieve by the children and youth of the country something similar or even more exploratory in the years to come.

Kudos to ISRO !!
