@nilushaikh2189- Contd.. If you follow this sort of a routine, I don't think the scooter will throw any tantrum on the road :P 4. Mileage - Don't know the exact mileage now but i'm guessing it has only improved more as my runs to the fuel station seems to be less than before. Even if it might'v...e decreased, i'm guessing I should be atleast getting around 50kmpl (70% with pillion and 30% solo). my scooter is due for service and i'll update the mileage after a proper test then.Read More

@nilushaikh2189 Extremely sorry for the late reply. For some reason, I got a mail about your comment just now! Coming to the problems you were stating - 1. battery - haven't faced any issue till now. It's almost 3 years since I got this scooter and never has the battery drained till now. I'm gue...ssing that with very low running especially with too much traffic, the alternator won't get enough time to recharge the battery and this may be a cause. My rides have been mostly in highways at high speeds (and almost hitting the limiter in every ride :P ) and maybe due to this reason I haven't faced the issue. 2. Breakdown - yes, has happened twice but it was due to a faulty fuel pipe/filter (I don't know what that part exactly was). The solution to this is actually very simple. You need to just remove the fuel inlet that goes to the carb and wait for around 10-20 secs so that fuel starts coming out. After letting off 4-5 drops of it, re-attach it to the carb and it'll start in another 2 or 3 kicks. I'm guessing that it was a mistake during production/planning of this scooter. In some service they notified me of this and changed that part free of cost and after that I never faced this issue (I think they kinda did a silent recall without actually calling back the scooters :P ). And if this has been carried out in all the scooters, I guess this issue shouldn't affect new scooters. 3. Cold start - never a problem. Normally starts in 3-5 kicks max. I've never used self for a cold start and will advice the same. It's always better to kick start a cold engine as it'll allow oil to spread evenly and will be good for the engine in the long run. I'm guessing the scooter may not start properly during cold start if self starter is used. And ya, before I start riding the scooter, I let it idle for around 30-40 seconds so that the engine gets properly warmed. This will reduce the risk of the engine getting turned off when decelerated with such a cold engine. If yoRead More

@Shankar_hope Extremely sorry for the late reply. For some reason I got a mail about your comment just now! While the vespa S is a good scooter, why don't you look at SXL 150 or VXL 150? They have 150cc engines and should be better than vespa S except maybe in the efficiency front. But then, the... power they provide should be enough to overlook the small mileage issue :)Read More

@saranya2014 - LOL.. guess, for chennai's traffic conditions, even 35kmpl is a huge quote! :P Here, in coimbatore, roads aren't as densely filled with vehicles as chennai... :) @mippo - tnx for the appreciation! :)

@saranya2014 Tnx for the appreciation. Yes, i've too come accross some people who say that the mileage is kinda low.. None have told me that it's 30.. but, many are getting like 40-45 kmpl against the company's 60kmpl quote.. I'm getting close to 52 kmpl always... -kaushik

friends, an update. my vespa has clocked 2700kms now. got a chance to rip it on NH47 some days back. u won't believe this but with two people onboard (me and a friend), the scooter effortlessly touched 95kmph.. and, after a 5 second gap, it's top speed 105kmph showed up on the speedo.. the ride was ...splendid.. and the scooter was very stable. just loved it. and there were only very feeble vibrations (read, negligible), which came up only when the throttle was let off while slowing down the scooter. for people, who do frequent highway trips, my advice - just don't give any second thought before buying this.. go get it!Read More

I got a red vespa back in november 2012 and the following is it's review, consolidated into points to provide a pleasant reading experience. My vespa has now clocked 850+ kms and completed two services, so, I think I am elligible to review it. Need for a bike- 2 year old electric scooter w...Read more

Sorry tat u r not enjoyin ur vespa. I got one in nov 2011. I've always been a harsh rider and similarly, I never cared for my vespa during the run-in period. But, surprise surprise... it gave me 40+kmpl before first service itself.. now tat one service is over, it's returnin more than 50kmpl and I c...an see it... The fuel gauge needle is too lazy to move :P I was not at all satisfied wen I first bought my vespa... parents forced it on me... before first service, it never crossed 80kmph (not tat I took care.. even wen I revved it fully, the engine never really responded), but now, after the first service's oil change, this scooter is jus osm.. it gets to 90 in no time and is as stable as a rock at such speeds.. u can overtake pulsars, fzs' and apache's very silently and w/o the motorbike like grunt! I'm jus amazed.. I'll key in my review soon... I jus can't stop praisin my vespa! :D it's truly osm..Read More

@sridhaririventi Great discovery! :D Check out the pics of my scooter b'fore u comment! I own one! And, i have no intentions to promote BSA motors in any way. I'm just a 17 year old teenager awaiting license to get my own petrol powered bike! :P I'm gonna sell my scooter soon as it's returning onl...y 30 Kms/charge now. 8k+ kms on the odo! Gonna get a bike!Read More

@vin2 I'm sorry, but i know nothing about the hero wave dx since there is no Hero EVs dealership near my place! Regarding the speedo, yes, the BSA street rider does have a digital speedo with a blue backlight... And, i have something more to say... Now, BSA has launched a slightly remodelled stree...t rider. It's more sturdier than the one that i have... Visible changes include, newly designed steel pressed wheels, a longer seat and a different kind of carrier (don't know what exactly it's called)!!!Read More

recommended - well, i heard that the ampere models are good, but no experience on them. Personally, being an owner of BSA street rider, i can definitely recommend it for u. After clocking 7.2k Kms , it still gives me about 50 Kms per charge. and it's stable and trouble free. And, the service guys a...t sankrithi BSA (coimbatore) are friendly and take note of ur problems... It now is the only model selling from BSA (they hav stopped smile and other models).... It costs 32 - 33 k but the extra premium is worth it! :D :)Read More

@biren_k I have been using this scooter for 1.5 years now... and haven't faced the problem tat u mentioned! When the charge is low, the pick-up will be low.. But, when the scooter is overloaded in that condition (low charge), around speeds of 5-10 Kmph, there will be a mild vibration and a feeble ...buzzin sound.. If the sound is low (like the vibration of a mobile phone), there's nothing to worry... jus charge the battery fully.. if the sound is worse than that (like cranking up a car or something), time to panic - visit the service centre! :DRead More
