Hi all, If the recent spate of virus attacks on this windoZe GUI front-end to DOS is any indication , then we would understand where this bloatware stands as far as personal data security is concerned. It is amazing how a zillion spywares can be installed through the back door while browsing ...Read more

Mr dtax, I dont think there was any blatantness in my admission that I have not read the book. Rather i was being plain straight forward , candid and honest that I was writing the review only based on the summary of the book and the subject the book is dealing with. The other thing is I did not ...write the article as a review of the book but it was a review of an article on the book written by another MS member. If you have problems accepting cold hard facts of life I am sorry. But agree or not , the facts just dont support the tall claims implied by the book itself. Your attempt at trying to get the Administrator's attention on such matters indicates you too know very well that the dreams conjured up in the book wont see the light of the day , but you dont want to admit it. any way , take it easy. Sir, I think the Amby is a perfect shining example of the people's mindset in India. Basically it runs something like this.. 'Never ever accept change even if it is for our own good. Let us all keep doing things in the stone age way.' For decades together HM has not felt the need to change the ba...sic design , improve efficiency , pretty much everything in this abomination for an automobile. I mean , one look under the hood will give you an idea of what I am teeling you , there is something that looks like an old Rallis fan , that rotates for the engine , then there is a radiator , I mena the whole thing is a Frankenstein of different mechanical parts. I wonder what the R&D dept at HM does ?/ Why do they even get paid ?? The fact that they have not improved the design or even thrown out the design and came up with new ones shows that they do not work at all. People say that it is designed for Indian roads . What does that mean ?? It only tells the world , the kind of road infrastructure we have in this country. Why dont we ever think of building world class roads rather than designing / remodeling automobiles to suite our prehistoric roads. ?? cheers, KHK Read More

Hi all, This article just caught my attention like hell. This is a perfect example of what ordinary mortals like you and me have to worry about while going through the customs desk at our world low-class international airports. We have to do all sorts of cloak and dagger stuff to carry something i...nsignificant as a camera!. And thre are stupid f***ing morons who can bring in expensive ferraries and get away with not paying customs duty. What a pathetic country we are. Read More

Hi all, I must admit that I was a bit amused at some of the views presented here about the city of Bangalore. Bangalore , by the way happens to be where I was born , brought up , I did all my schooling and even my graduation too. So I have never been out of sync with the growth of the city over ...Read more

Prof Sir, First I am deeply hurt for what you have been through. As for the topic itself is concerned , can anyone tell me if there is any difference in the traffic situation between 1963 and now ( 4 decades ) later ?? The only difference is that Indian traffic is morte chaotic , more insa...nce , more murderous than ever before. Certainly not the hallmark of a country which hopes to become a developed country by 2020 , ( less than 2 decades ) , while some thing like quality of roads , traffic sense among people has not improved in 4 decades , I wonder what makes one think that we will be a developed country in 2 decades... Hi guys, well , thanks fr the reviews. First let me say that I was reall y pissed off at the whole issue.. We keep seeing celebrities getting away all too often. Need I remind you guys of some of the 'bollywood' stars who have gotten away with plain murder / man-slaughter ? The kind of hero-worship... that is prevalent in our culture is taken to such a level that we are simply blind to the fact that celebrities are only too human after all and that they also need to be brought down under the long arm of the law . Very recently a very famous Hollywood actress was arrested produced in court and was fined heavily for indulging in 'shop-lifting' in Los Angeles. I for one do not agree that just because a sportsman has skills , we should not put him on a pedastal and worship him. Let me give you an example , recently when I travelled from US to Bangalore , I was carrying my 3 yr old Nikon STILL camera in my carry on baggage and also an ordinary DVD player , can anyone imagine the kind of treatment I was given at the cutoms ?? Now the DVD player was just $200 and the camera ofcourse , god know how much I paid when I bought it 3 YRS back. This is only one example ,. Ask anyone who has come to India from outside and you will get an idea of how Indian custom officials treat Indians when they want to enter their own country. Cheers, KHKRead More

Hi, Well let's see.... 1) First I did not decide about the numbers. That's the job of an economist , any part time economist will give you theose numbers right off the bat. As for $25,000 per capita , that is the average of every developed country at this moment on the planet.. just follow this u...rl and look at the table there for your self... http://www.mrdowling.com/800gdppercapita.html Now you can decide for yourself about the figures.... Also can you tell me what is your idea of a developed country ?? 2) Also your claim on cell phones is just absurd.... China has nearly 250 MILLION cellphone users and that is the largest in the world.. Do you know the number of cell phone users in India ?? A Cellular Operators Association of India report in June said there are 14 MILLION users.. Please do check your facts before making tall claims. Also read this link on South Korea as well , then you will get an idea of what I am talking abt... http://times.hankooki.com/lpage/biz/200307/kt2003070416475911890.htm Cheers, KHKRead More

Hi all, Well Thanks for ur comments and was surprised to see so many hits on my small article. All the articles about the current topic that I read were only bemoaning about the situation , but I could not find one article which tried to explore the reasons behind the situation at hand. And that ...is what I have tried to do . At first it would seem I have drifted off topic , but really dont you guys think that 'Reservation' is the heart of every problem that is prevalent in public life in India ?? I strongly feel that if this is taken care of , then we won't be dicussing about the evils of Bangalore's police forece or any other other city's for that matter for long. Cheers, KHKRead More

Hi all, This is is my first post. Any ways here is my take on the situation. First off , there is no traffic anywhere in India as far as I know , it's all a mad dash by everyone in every direction . Indian roads and traffic are the worst in entire the known universe except for a few African nation...s. As far as the state of the police department in Bangalore ( or any corner of the country for that matter ) I wonder if any one has wondered as to the root cause of all the evils that exists in the state police depts ( again any part of the country ) or for that matter any goverment run outfit ?? Well , I think it is the great reservation policy . Simply because a person who is not fit to be in a particular chair is made to sit based on his caste / creed / religion irrespective of his educational achievements. Let me put it this way , when I enrolled for my bachelors degree ( BE ) in one of the colleges in Bangalore , there were many candidates who had gained a seat through the reservation route and guess what , they could not do basic math . If that is the case in one college ,just imagine what is the case throughout the country for the past 50+ yrs !!!. How can you exepect such people to be good engineers , builders , administrtors , doctors etc ?? And by the way , all this talk about India becoming a super power in 2020 is only a JOKE. Dont you believe it. Because if some one says it , he/she does not know what it means to be a developed country. CheersRead More
