Ibanez GSR 200 4-string Bass guitar

Aug 22, 2009 03:18 PM General 1527 Views

I bought my Ibanez 4 string black GSR 200 bass guitar from Saptaswara Musicals in Mylapore, Chennai during Sep 2006. I do not play frequently. I play only at my church and sometimes for occasional small musical events. May be due to less usage, the guitar appears as new as when it was bought. I h...Read more

I agree with jebby. This is indeed a movie to watch. Will Smith has proved that he is the best in Hollywood. What a great storyline this is... One will think that Will is nuts during the 911 call, when watching the movie first. Towards the end only we will understand what the call was all about. I w...as in tears literally at the end. It will make everyone think about their loved ones and the impact one person can cause on many others. The Pursuit of Happyness was a great movie. This is even greater. I'll give 5 stars for this. I was planning to write a review on this movie. Thanks to jebby, he has covered the job well :)Read More

It is now 7 months after I've bought my Gladiator SS. It has run around 4700 kms now. I calculated my mileage to be around 57 kmpl, eventhough I ride around 60-80 kmph at times. 3 free services are over and the bike is smooth in terms of ride quality as well as the gear shifting. No problems til...l now other than the bike (engine cowl) getting very dirty due to the rains here. I have adjusted my rear shocks to a little more softer setting (middle position) since I ride alone most of the time. If always riding with a pillion, better keep it in the hardest (5th/last position).Read More

For effective cooling, the cooler should be placed as much as close to ourselves as possible. When we are away from the cooler, only normal temperature air will reach us. If we are beside the cooler, we can feel the chillness better. I use the cooler beside me daily during my sleep after filling... 4 * 2 liter bottles of cold water and putting the swing feature on. Since I sleep on the floor, the air swing of the cooler reaches me from head to toe. The water usually runs out in the morning during hot season. But if the water still remains, I feel more chilled in the mornings.Read More

Some points to be noted regarding maintaining our digital cameras: 1) Do not let it get wet: Wet in the sense, water seeping in to the electronic components. If at all you feel water has gone in, power off the camera and remove the batteries and keep it to dry completely for a day or two. 2) D...o not drop the camera at any cost. Once dropped, the lens might crack or there might be problems when the lens retracts or protrudes out or even the electronic components will malfunction. I once dropped my cam from a very small height. The auto lens cover was jerked open and was not closing completely. Luckily it rectified by itself after a couple of retracting/protruding the lens(switching on/off the cam). 3) Do not touch the lens with fingers or try to clean it with normal clothing. Normal clothing would definitely scratch the lens. Soft clean clothing or lens cleaning tissues can be used for this purpose. 4) Remove the batteries from the cam when it is not in use for more than a week or so. Drain the batteries and store them and fully recharge before putting it into the cam for further use. Always use good quality AA rechargeable batteries rather than spending everytime for conventional batteries. Sony, Sanyo, Energizer, etc are good brands. The batteries must be 2700mAh. Do not keep drained batteries for charging more than 2 or 3 hours. 5) Never cover the flash while it is in use, in order to extend it’s life. It wil get heated up quickly if it is covered up and the filament will wear out quicklyRead More

Wow mate, thanks for making this review all about Yamaha. Now you are a fan too. Also happy that you and your friends are interested in Chinese sh*t rather than Japanese ;) From where else do you expect bajaj bike parts to get for cheap (price n quality)? Please visit this site whenever you have ...time: http://www.bajajauto.com/2wheeler/XCD/index1.html - This will clarify your doubts about the maximum speed of the bike mentioned by bajaj themselves. Its 10.2 PS engine, not 11 as you have mentioned. There are also 3 variants of this bike namely-Electric start with disc brake, ES with drum, Kick start with drum. So much for the standard you mentioned for all XCD 135s. It's ok pal, losing is part of the deal.. You must have even lost a few papers in your studies at the so called IIT-LIKE COLLEGE :) BTW, the treatment received at service centers should be read as bajaj service centers ;) One more thing, you and your friends must have bought the bike with ur daddy's or mommy's hard earned cash. So you wont feel the pinch of it when going around buying anything of your choice blindly. Your story tells by itself about the 'Frog in the well' (Refering to-'half of my institute's friends use XCD 135'). I also thought only bajaj was good in copy-pasting, now their customers also have started using that technology ;) Ok pal, now time for you to go and study. Dont waste time in crying around for your own/your neighbor's bike. If you still feel like retaliating, then please change your review heading to something like 'About my IIT-like institute' or 'YAMAHA is not that good in advertising as bajaj'. All the best for your studies. I invite fellow bikers to read the above hilarious comments and decide for themselves which bike fares better in the long run, i.e if at all XCD 135 lives till that time. Hope the readers are entertained by these comments. I apologize for the poor language me/my fellow MS pal has used in his comments. Anyway happy reading :)Read More

You had said if only I had tried the XCD 135 before I had tried the Gladiator. FYI, Gladiator SS/RS was launched before the XCD 135. Infact during the launch of XCD 135, there was commotion about what should be the prototype's design for the final finished product. Finally they launched it after mak...ing much alterations than what was supposed to be done. I know this because I was watching the market frequently that time. I even thought about buying the XCD 125 for so long before arriving at the decision to get Gladiator SS. The SS was simply way ahead on everything compared to the XCD 125 or any other 125 cc bike. I had considered all the 125 cc bikes out there during that time. From HH Super Splendor, HH Glamour, Honda Shine, Honda CBF Stunner, Suzuki Zeus, bajaj XCD 125 to the TVS Flame. Gladiator SS had more great features and a competitive price than all these bikes. Speaking about technology that bajaj uses. Just ask people who are knowledgeable about bikes, regarding the techonolgy bajaj has copied from international bike makers and claims copyright for that ;). It was fun to see bajaj and TVS fighting for the issue regarding Flame's engine technology which was actually invented by other international manufacturers. bajaj was crying for the patent eventhough they hadn't invented it. Comparing the Gladiator to Platina. Isn't it a little odd, like comparing Superman to a Barbie doll? ;)Read More

Regarding the treatment received at your (bajaj) service centers, no offence, pig-like customers get treated that way... ;) The service people at Yamaha were open and friendly and did their job well. Wonder if people at bajaj service even notices when a customer like you comes waiting for service. T...his might be be due to the large number of Pulsar/Discover/XCD owners waiting in queue to repair their much spent earnings (bikes) ;) You said about average bikes by Yamaha for expensive prices. Please check out the features on the Gladiator SS/RS - 5 speed gearbox, front disc brake, tachometer, electric start, aerodynamic engine cowl, adjustable rear shocks, light weight aluminum wheels, 11 ps engine, actual top speed of 105 kmph (that too without much engine vibration), retractable front as well as rear foot rests, balanced chassis for great cornering and handling. All this for an ex-showroom price of around 47K. On road you can get the Gladiator for around 52-54K depending on the locality. And note the point that all the features mentioned above is standard on the Gladiator SS/RR. Infact there is just one model unlike bajaj which makes a Discover 125/135 with disc brake, without disc brake, with electric start, without electric start. Come on man, we all know disc brake is more efficient than a drum brake and that electric start is a boon in stop/start traffic. Yamaha understands this and gave all these features on its standard SS/RS model for a reasonable/competitive price than any other bike manufacturer. Can you beat that???? If you meant expensive bikes such as Yamaha FZ-16/S or R15, then there need not be said anything more. We all know how far up they stand compared to Poolsars or any other Yunicorns. You've got to accept the truth. They are expensive since they are class bikes. Not some piece of crap like bajaj or HH. Time will tell whether bajaj XCD 135 lived to tell the story to the elder Yamaha Gladiator SS/RS ;)Read More

Wow, great reply... :) It would be good to see you keeping on writing about your bike and the problems which start creeping up very soon and about the poor decision of getting this bike ;) Talking about sales of Yamaha bikes. Yes, I agree Gladiator wont sell the way XCD is being sold. The fact... is that Yamaha doesn't do much advertisements. It's great quality speaks for itself. I would like to see the look on your/other's face when you/others read this comment ;) We all know bajaj as well as other brands do cheap advertisements and children like you just watch them n fall for it. Only children/girls go after what is seen on advertisements. Great to know that all the children at your institute are addicts of XCD 135. Speaking about the quality. That's really funny. You can expect your digital dash as well as your tail lamp to break very soon as we usually see in Pulsars and XCD 125. People know that LEDs are supposed to stay longer than conventional bulbs. Buying a Pulsar/XCD will change that truth.. ;) Check the quality of switches on the XCD and compare it to the Gladiator SS/RS's. You will definitely be crying out loud why bajaj is cheap. Regarding value for money, spares of Yamaha are of far better quality than bajaj. I guess bajaj is depending on China/Taiwan for its spares. Hope that you dont run into trouble with your bike's poor spares. BTW, Yamaha is giving Gladiator SS/RS 10-14 free services and warranty till 30K kms. I hope n pray bajaj gives atleast half of that for XCD 135 ;) You can ask any adult whether it is bajaj or Yamaha that makes world class bikes and which one is sought over internationally. You can also ask some person who is good in math or numbers to compare the XCD 135 and the Gladiator SS/RS for the top speed/features available/reliability/comfort/handling/etc. Read More

If all four of you had tried the Yamaha Gladiator SS/RS or even researched about it, you would not have bought the XCD 135. Yes, Bajaj will be saying that 20K XCD 135s are being sold every month, but the thing is that I dont see even one out of 30 bikes on the streets being an XCD 135. Indee...d a monster hit. It should have been 'bajaj has sold 20k bikes for one month', nothing more after that. Altogether 20k till now. Regarding the spares, yes bajaj spares are cheaper in price than HH and Honda. This is because the quality is also cheaper. The production of this bike will stop soon and we can see all 4 of you begging around searching for spare parts. How much did you buy this bike for? If it was value for money that you needed, any sensible person would try out the Gladiator which is really value for money. By the way, how do you calculate your mileage? XCD 135 should be a really good moped to give around 75 kmpl. That is really a good joke, unless you are riding at 35 kmph or something. This is a 135 cc bike we are talking about. Even the XCD 125 gives around 62 kmpl only and you expect more mileage from a 135 cc bike. Wow, very interesting... Regarding the bike's looks, I agree with you. It looks very unique - retarded. The front fairing is stupid and the tail lamps looks like bajaj didnt have enough tail lights for all of its XCD 135s. Same's the case with XCD 125. I guess everyone would agree with me on that ;) By the way what do you say about the looks about the rear brake pedal? Too bad all 4 of you made the same mistake choosing the same bike for all. Anyway good that you stood united even if it was for making a poor decision.Read More

You can compare the Gladiator SS with Honda Shine or any other 125 cc bike. I would say the Gladiator will stay miles ahead on features and reliability compared to the others. The Shine only has 4 gears and vibrates too much above 60. Price is also more than Glady for the disc brake version. ... The CBF Stunner is having the same engine of Shine but with 5 gears. Also it is way too expensive for a 125 cc. Do we see a lot of Stunners on the road? HH Glamour is good on mileage and reliability, but loses out on its retarded looks and price. Suzuki Zeus also has an oldish look and lesser power than Glady. It has 5 gears, disc brake, and gear indicators but the alloy wheels are not found on it. Price might be less or around Glady’s price. HH Splendor is good on mileage and reliability but not that much on looks. It doesn’t have 5 gears or disc brakes or a tachometer. It feels like a small bike after driving the Glady. The XCD 125 is a small bike. It has only 4 gears. The LCD speedometer and LED tail lights dont seem to stay working for long. I’ve seen many XCD tail lamps and even Pulsar tail lamps half lit. They say LED has more life than conventional bulbs. Blah blah to that. The bike is very light and the braking is also not that efficient. The TVS Flame is only 4 gear with disc brake and good mileage, but the bike lacks pickup and the present engine is only a scaled down version of what was originally meant to be on the bike. It lacks a tachometer even though it has a digital display for the odometer, tripmeter and it costs more than Glady. The ride quality is not too good.Read More

First of all before buying a bike, you need to enquire about the bike and more importantly the service mentality of the dealer. Then only buy the bike from the dealership which does good service. I bought my Gladiator SS Black Red on Jan 2nd this year from Ambal Motors, Velachery, Chennai. I went... to check out the bike few days before and drove home the bike on 2nd itself after paying the whole cash (54500). I found their service very good. They were polite with customers and doing their job well. Infact they used to service my bike according to my availability, which I took on Saturdays. My bike has done >4500 kms now and 4 services are over all from the same dealer. They even gave my bike the same day after servicing. Engine oil definitely will have to be paid for. They also polished my bike. I dont have any problems with my bike or the service they are providing. I am proud to have bought the Gladiator SS. Anyway I had not even known that a dealer existed in Velachery. But I'm lucky that these guys are good in their service. I'm a happy customer.Read More
