To 1234A406 Hi Deepak. Thank you for your post. Still around 35-40. Yes I completed 1 year of servicing. I'll say I'm fully satisfied. Not a single problem till date.

To vallaree : Yes I agree with you :-) There have been troubles after servicing too. I had an idling trouble that became worse after servicing. Very costly too - they change oil whenever they see the face of the customer. Nowadays when giving for servicing I talk them out of changing oil since I fee...l a lot of these changes are unnecessary. Till all the free services are over, I'll be contacting the service centre. But after that, I'll probably give to my trusted local mechanic. All parts here are activa parts * 2. Definitely costly. So far I never have had poor service. Never have had rude service too, but I have seen them behave rudely to some customers. But prior to this I had a Hyundai and that was the ultimate worst service :-) Vespa hasn't reached that level (yet).Read More

To apurvasa123: I don't find any shaking / vibrating at high speeds - 70+, 80+, 90+. However braking is the issue. Looks - subjective. Heard that a similar scoot maybe released by Bajaj next year, but may or may not work out.

Hi Harish Thank you for reading my review. I went through your profile. The photos of your bike are too good. You have maintained it well. Reminds me of my college days - I learnt driving on a KB100 as well!! Looking after a 2-stroker needs a lot of dedication. *** As of racing the P...ulsar, initially you would be able to overtake him. But Pulsar catches up from the 5th gear onwards. Also the Pulsar is the best when it comes to braking. So careful!!Read More

Disadvantages Those cycles are definitely not made for today. Way too flimsy. Watch out for autos, they JUST do not care. Buses are worse. You put all your effort, climb a gentle incline and there. You are forced to clamp down your breaks. Because the auto has stopped right in front. You cycle ...past him and he starts. And you are sandwiched between him and a bus!! And you are all going uphill!! At then end of the day, it breeds patience. But at the cost of safety. If you want to cycle to office regularly, as well as reach on time, I would suggest getting a Hercules DTB or the geared hawk. Or a modern imported bicycle. Costs about Rs 10k, but sturdy and the chain doesn't slip. There is an excellent review by one Santosh Mathew (Mouthshut ID santoshpm) on the Hero Hawk (http://www.mouthshut.com/review/Hero_Cycles-127773-1.html). Wonderful advice. Happy cycling to all you folks out there, and let's bring down the broiler count, change 'em all to country chicken!! Lance Armstrong, here I come :-)) Thank you for spending time on this review.Read More

On the return journey I went through a back-road on the backside of the old Bangalore airport. That was where the cycle performed best. Whenever I travel this road by car, I play John Denver's 'Country Roads' while passing through. The shady road is quiet, like a Country Road. From the time you go i...n to this road near Marathahalli, till you show up near Dell, Domlur, you travel back in time to a day when not much moved on the roads. I recommend this route to other cyclists. Hard roads with ups and downs, gentle inclines, groves of trees, no traffic, eagles soaring above. Country roads. Advantages All there for everyone to see. Managed to reduce my pant size from 36' to 34'. In just a few days of hard cycling. I have actually seen people stare!! Even the other day, on the opposite side there was one of these 'attitude chicks'. You know the lot I'm referring to - those modern corporate chicks who love to be the centre of attraction / distraction. And who have power, position as well as cash. And as she passed by in her sedan, she kept looking at good old black & red. This is not just some new-fangled kids cycle with technology. This is technology unchanged from the 1980s. At its front majestically sits the rifles-and-stick badge of the Birmingham Small Arms Factory (Hence the name BSA). The company was established in 1861, and is well-known across several countries. Another advantage is that it is light. I get stuck in Airport road bumper-to-bumper traffic. People are stressed out, frustrated. They blast their horns. They make every mode to outpace the other fellow by a few centimetres. I just get down, lift the cycle upstairs, and walk to the footpath. Continue walking till you are out of the traffic-halt!! Another plus - you don't care about traffic cops!! Because they also don't care a damn about cycles.Read More

Things to remember The name is of course Mach 1. But this one is not made to be fast. Bangalore roads are not straight and level like Chennai roads. Mach 1 performs well when the road is straight and level. But a slight slope and it struggles upwards. Anyway you need a geared bicycle for reg...ular use in Bangalore. Ungeared is ok if you just want to exercise. I felt my BSA SLR in college was better up the slopes. The tyres are very thin. You will have to fill air everyday. A foot pump is a good investment. Also for cycling it is good to have a proper helmet. Presently I am using the bike half-helmet. Should be getting a proper cycling helmet in the same theme - black / red. Need to oil the chain every week. 2T bike oil would do. A little bit would do, as long as it is done regularly. The long ride to office I took him to work only once. It was during my weekly off, and after a very resounding hangover, decided to cycle to office the next day. My office is 10 kms away, and no one in his right senses would take an ungeared cycle all the way to work (why can't the crazy fool walk to work !!). So I could do that only during my weekly off. Road is very nasty and in repair - they are building a flyover. The going was very tough and there were enough obstacles. I would like to add rear view mirrors but would like advice from MSians on how to do so for the Mach / Hawk. The brakes aren't as good as SLR, so it needs a decisive stop. Not an abrupt one. But the riding position is the best. The extra height gives a very good view of the road. Nice tall seat.Read More
