Hi, thanks for the positive comment!
Yes, I've seen Amadeus -- it's one of my favorite movies. I do agree that Shakalaka Boom Boom isn't up to that, but then, it'd be very hard to! Yeah, definitely, Upen Patel in his third movie was no Tom Hulce as Mozart, and Bobby Deol no F Murray Abraham. :...) But I think the updating and recontextualizing and modification of the basic story of Amadeus to the 21st century Indian-music-industry-abroad was well handled (though it would probably have made more sense to have a UK rather than US setting).
I'd be interested to know what you mean by the screenplay being messed up. I think certain things were rushed or glossed over like when Reggie suddenly became ill, and the ending, but to me that came across as editing to keep the running time at 2 hours.Read More

Director Suneel Darshan retains his well-honed emotional sensibilities at key effective moments, as well as his trademark ear for good music and his belief in songs being integral in telling the story of a movie. But he tones down the melodrama bigtime, uses a new editing style that is neither ...Read more

Hi, I liked the movie too. I'm wondering why you chose 'not recommend' when you say overall go for it in the text of the review and gave the movie three stars?

Rohit_Roy, with respect, I hope you read the review before rating it 'Not Useful'.
The review is accepting of different points of view regarding the movie, including hatred of the movie, and both criticizes and praises specific scenes and other specific aspects of the movie. The review is also s...trong in terms of grammar and organization.
Forgive me for being so passionate in disagreement, but I think the review is far from 'Not Useful' as you have rated it. Did you really find nothing useful in it? I hope you didn't just give such a poor rating because of a quick skim after seeing akshai78's five stars for KANK, and that you considered the review as a whole.Read More

Well-organized, well-thought-out, balanced review that analyzes the movie well.
Unlike you, I think Maya leaving Rishi makes sense though. I think Maya can't love Rishi in any sexual way, because she basically grew up as his step-sister and thought of him as a brother. That's why she should n...ever have gotten married to him. But she said yes in order to please him and his dad, who had been her family.Read More

Hi Kalia, thanks for your comment on my Dosti review.
Juhi doesn't appear until the second half, and truthfully her role is not that big.
But I think the first half is worth watching too, despite Bobby and Lara not being that good.
Let me know what you think of the movie when you see ...it ... Hope you don't hate it!!Read More

Hi Anand, thanks for your comment. Glad you liked the reveiw.
I think the opening minutes after the car race do give enough of a flavor of the rest of the movie for you to judge what it will be like, so if you didn't like that, it's safe to say the rest of the movie wouldn't be that appealing to... you either.
It's too bad the movie didn't work for you. Oh well!
Cheers,

I read that Dosti did well at the box office in some parts of India also, just not in Mumbai.
Box Office India, at http://www.boxofficeindia.com , classified it overall as a 'below average' in India -- so, at least not a flop.
That's great that it did well in the UK!

Hi, good review, but I don't think he fell in love with Bipasha's character because of her money. I think it was more pure than that.
Also, I think it would be good if you could format the review a bit more so that all sentences are capitalized. But there were only a couple sentences that weren...'t, and it's not a big problem!
Cheers,

Hi Anand, brilliant review for a brilliant movie!
You might reveal a little too much of some of the best scenes, but on the other hand, I guess people haven't seen the movie yet need a little extra information and push to give it a try.
I also feel that the movie is as worthy of praise as mo...st of the Johar/Chopra movies I've seen.
Hopefully Suneel Darshan will continue to get his due from enough of the audience to keep on with his good work, even if not from many of the critics.Read More

Anand -- Thanks! Yeah, I thought Akshay was fine in GM. I just was expecting at least some kind of story from the movie, or at least character development! :-)
moviezombie -- Thanks. I didn't know the distasteful dog scene came straight from There's Something About Mary. Hmm, I don't know wh...at would have clicked better with the audience. What would have clicked better with me would have been a few less stunts (probably not from There's Something About Mary, hehe), but those may have been a highlight for some others.
Cticize, thanks, I'm glad you liked the two reviews you read of mine back-to-back. Haha, it's probably a good approach not to criticize things that make you laugh. That means the movie has served its purpose well if it has set out to entertain.
Entertainingsher -- okay, sure ... :-)Read More

Hi, please format your review. It's hard to read everything all jumbled up together.

Oh okay, LOL. It's fixed now, hooray. I notice a lot of other people are bashing the movie ...
Will maybe comment on their reviews now.

Hi, strong review as always.
I loved all the music too. It's even better in the context of the movie itself.
It's too bad none of Nadeem-Shravan's work last year seems to have be nominated for any of the award shows. Hopefully they will work together again someday.
Are you going to wr...ite a review of the movie too?
Cheers,
