Your analogy of the Airlines being a mother is interesting. But what happens if the mother metes out step-motherly treatment to some Centres, which are not in the Trunk Routes? I guess one wouldnt have any choice other than taking a foster mother, if available!!!

I thought this was a review on the book. And what do we find here? Venting off the spleen on an organisation whose main sin seems to be that the book has been authored by the spouse of its founder chairman! You guys may have some genuine reasons to complain about Infosys. Every person or org...anisation - however great - is likely to have some negatives. If so, by all means choose Infosys as a subject for your review and do your ranting and raving. Why vent your ire in a reveiw of the book, which has nothing to do with the organisation? Talk of dogs barking up the wrong trees!Read More

Thanks for your comment. I see the point in what you are saying. I realise that the forum is for the programme as a whole. But the particular episode set me thinking. Within MS, is there any other appropriate forum where I could have ventillated my views?

While the Review gives some idea about the Department, I am afraid it does not give enough information about the role of this Department and how it actually works. The Department of Company Affairs is actually meant to administer the Companies Act, which governs the functioning of all the joint sto...ck companies in the country. There are different categories of companies, namely public limited companies, private limited companies, companies listed in stock exchanges, Government Companies and foreign companies. All these companies essentially enjoy the privilege of limited liability. which means that the owners (shareholders) do not have the risk of their properties attached to pay the debts of the company. Their liability is limited to the extent of the share capital they have agreed to invest in the company. The company itself is treated as a separate entity in the eyes of the law, distint from the shareholders who own the company. In return for the privilege, Companies are required to make public, the information about them, and file periodic returns relating to their ownership, management, financial position etc. to the Registrar of Companies, who is the operative grass root arm of the Department of Company Affairs. Any member of the public can obtain information about a registered company by paying a nominal fee for inspection of the documents. There is a Registrar of Companies, virtually in every State, and his jurisdiction extends to all companies whose Registered Office is located in the State. The Registrar of Companies also has a watchdog function, whereby he conducts investigation on various companies to ascertain whether the companies are complying with various provisions of the Companies Act. He also looks into the complaints made by investors on matters ranging from non receipt of dividends to non receipt of notices of shareholders' meetings, to which thery are entitled. Under the Department, there is a centralised Investor ProtectioRead More
