Overall ok review. I get the 'hypocritical' comments by NRIs.,however my perspective is different. As an NRI who comes from India, one comes here for better opportunity and freedom of speech and expression, the two of which unfortunately were hard to achieve when we grew up in India. I am a professi...onal just like you and came here for higher studies and ended up staying here. America did not invite me with open arms NOR did India force me to come here. I think you are mixing culture and heritage with modernism and the associated comparison that happens when a NRI has admiration for the good things in life that America offers (like you said-job, family, house car etc), and most of all freedom of speech. Perhaps today, Bglore offers all that, but again, being out of the corporate India workforce for a while, an NRI would suffer a setback in his/her career. Overall, what you say makes a good read from an ABCD perspective who has not lived in India, but ask that to a NRI who lives here, and I bet that their view will be very similar to mine. One last thing.. With so much westernization in Bglore/Bombay with the influx of IT, you will be surprised to see that a lot of desis (not NRIs) but locals) are always trying to compete to buy things or do things the Western way and will also complain about how things have worsened in India, over the years. Clearly, being in India, they want to compete with their NRI counterparts. Keep writing, it is interesting to see your views also.!Read More
