Arranged Marriages!

Jan 14, 2014 09:30 PM

m.... Do you have a blood brother who had an arranged marriage? and if yes how did it go when you were seeking an alliance for him? I totally feel what you must be going through having got my elder sister married, i made a point not to visit anyones house unless i was 90% sure i would be happy to be... married to that individual. And the only family i met was my wife's :). End of the day, even after going through this seemingly nonsensical custom, you should get a good match and that defines your life. I was lucky and so will you be :)Read More

Indians and the English accent problem

Jul 05, 2012 08:37 PM

nice Couldnt agree more. I too have a strong R, D, T and so on when i speak, but have long given up on trying to cover it up. The fact that i can speak grammatically correct foreign language itself is well appreciated by the English tongues, i no longer mind the frowns or requests to repeat my state...ments awkward anymore. A very pertinent post!! Cheers on the FB statusRead More

petrol prices

Jul 03, 2012 04:20 PM

totally agree You may want to read one of my earlier blogs on the same issue. Ultimately the government recovers the subsidy from general public and hence a market controlled fuel price is indeed the way forward. as for increasing the fossil fuel price to discourage their demand goes, the governm...ent also needs to look at improving the public transportation in the country. As a comparison, in UK you literally do not need private transport as the public transport is pretty strong. De-subsidizing fuel prices alone appears to be a problem without a solution, no one would welcome it. Well written!!!Read More

Last month my husband had to visit cologne for business and we used it as an opportunity to roam around this historic city in the west of Germany. Of all the places we had planned to visit in Europe and could not, Cologne was amongst the top. With our prior backpacker knowledge and experience in ...Read more

one thing is for sure, the women(just one) wears more clothes than bips or sonam or anyone in this movie. Am sure they would have carried out the robberies wearing a bikini ;) Nice review!!

I landed in New York and took an apartment in New jersey. Just to get used to the time difference, my buddy invited me to watch this movie in a theater (me and theater- are like kids and freak shows). Personally i liked the movie. It is more on a wavering kid getting a purpose for his life and that too ends up saving many lives of his countrymen. I do appreciate you have a different liking, nevertheless good few thoughts that you shared.

Your observation is party correct that the concept of making a movie around a robot is old, Robot does not seem to be any closer to Bicentenial man. Of course, Robot is made for Indian audience and will for sure have songs, masala and all the regular ingredients of an indian movie, coz that is what ...our viewers want and that is what does business. I too am of the opinion to do away with all the masala from Indian movies, but we must appreciate the appetite of our movie goers. I definitely appreciate your opinion, but may and most probably will not agree to a Shankar movie not being 'At least' a total time pass movie.Read More

Hey Shalu, Thanks for reading. I somehow felt dabang was not a mindless movie coz it appeared serious in parts. Anyway, my taste stays with me and so does my pity :) PS: If relativity is something to be considered, Rajnikant used to be more than a style king at least in his early days, he was a d...ecent enough actor(he is from stage dramas, and theatre). Maybe salman had stronger facial muscles which have been stopping him from acting lolRead More

Yuck, india is dirty!!

Is what we have heard umpteen number of foreigners(firangis) mention about india, and quoted as the prime reason why they do not wish to visit india, either as tourist or for work. My recent visit to Italy and paris were eye-openers of a sort. I am a huge fan of Einstein's theory of relativity. W...Read more
