I happened to see the new Zen at the showroom. Looks wise it is a cute little car. If Maruti would put the 800cc engine of Alto inside it and price it further lower down it would have been the greatest success in the history of Maruti. But like Maruti did for the Alto the wisdom comes l...Read more

Leave the resale value alone. How is the refinement Mr. Jay nair. You can compare with the yardstick Honda Activa/Dio. I don't own a Honda. I own a Kinetic Y2K. Frankly I love to ride a more refined Kinetic. but sadly I couldn't find any so that I can move to a refined one. I am now waiting for Kine...tic Euro to happen. But see the stepped seat of Euro had to be flattened for Indian market. Else You can expect one more flop. Why on earth Kinetic is again in motorcycle bandwagon? Unanswerable question again. Do manufacture scooters with quality. Definitely Kinetic can succeed. Mr.Jay Nair, we are not rival company people. I am transparent, my photo is there, my address is there, I am a simple project manager at IT company in cochin. But see I test drive vehicles a lot. I am a critic whether it is any bike/scooter/car or any thing. Be it auto mags which are company advertisers in disguise. I respect Bajaj and TVS for their efforts. I disrespect companies who cannot keep quality in their products, be it website of theirs or be it autos. No need to talk about mileage, it is something which differ by riding style or road quality. What that is needed is consistency in delivering that. I give full marks to engine refinement, ergonomics, suspension, and to a balanced look of the vehicle. I cannot see any technologies like fuel injection, air suspension, CV carb for that matter in a scooter. Why? What will it cost to add a CV carb instead of regular one? What is the cost of an air suspension for a scooter(only one suspender). Still no body is creative or proactive in this segment. I feel that this market too will be captured by Bajaj in near future by their technology driven products. Can Kinetic or Honda had to waith till this happen?Read More

Yamaha had to still go a long way to compete with the other warriors. As I had written Gladiator is a good product but has failed in the market place. Indian public need a consitent product and support strategy from any company to sustain. As Yamaha had gone through lot of image problems after RX100..., I see that Yamaha had to stop playing in economy segment and start playing in performance segment that too with proactively designed and exclusive products. They will get great operation margins and good word of mouth too. There are a bunch of people who need technology and performance. Stop all bikes below 250cc and start manufacturing 250cc and above bikes and display in futurisitic and customer-friendly showrooms. Yamaha will surely come out of current blues. All had to agree that Yamaha bikes boast great quality. Read More

See when I pointed out about harsh ride and vibrations, instead of hearing it the sales person started argument that this flaw was not pointed out by anybody who test rided the scooter. I persit that there is a vibration on sudden deceleration at least on the scooter I had ridden. But see having use...d a kinetic for years I know that the vibrations it will throw in long run. Kinetic never could make the suspension spot on nor can reduce the excessive vibrations of their products be it scooter or motorcycle. The product life of their products are rather too small.ie: the life in the market. I know original KiHo is a great product but the Y2K is a disaster. See the huge silencer of Y2K always get grounded on tight right turns and humps and craters in road while the original KiHo had neatly tucked in silencer(Call it catalytic convertor or anything or blame emission norms wont help). Further what is Nova? Just see the mudguard of nova. What a pleasant sight. Kinetic rather could put the new four stroke engine in the Y2K and Marvel scooter rather than designing a new contraption named Nova. Nova had a small front end mated to a huge back end. No symmetry in design at all. ANy body had counter arguments all are welcome to this area to post their comments. But with ample proof. Not just blah blah or I bought it and so that is best syndrome. One more thing all dealers are giving new vehicle for test ride that is meant for sale. What is the plight of hapless customer who will get that scooter or bike? There must be some rule or law that there must be a model of each and every vehicle painted or badged differently for test ride as in the case of cars.Read More

Most reviews seem to be biased. It is a hard truth that all Pulsars and Discover DTSis have a gearbox problem. Funny that this gearbox problem is not there in Kawasaki designed gearboxes(of CT100, Platina, Discover110) of which Discover 110 is exceptionally good. The greatest gearbox I had used is o...f Gladiator all work like clockwork. I had yet to comment about Suzukis, which I don't know how they will fare in this overcrowded market. One thing Bajaj can do now is acquire the LML's R&D to get access to a good gearbox technology. Regarding TVS, they used to make very good bikes but lost way in styling that is all. Vibration from Apache is mainly due to bad engine oil as reports go by but the dealers still stick to their brand of oil for profitablility reasons. TVS had the full potential to rejenuate with Apache for one last time or else they are dead. TVS Star City is and excellentbike nonethless for that kind of money and the engine is also smooth. Honda has an indifferent dealership and the only brand which can be bought with eyes closed is Hero Honda and that is whay they are the greatest selling brand in India. THere is no competition in realibility front for those Hero Honda sloper engines. They are there from 1950s and constantly refined to the exetnd of Fuel Injection. But they had to launch a FI super splendor ad Glamour's styling is not with everybody's taste. In scooter front Activa is all the way to go and Honda fares monopolistic without offering any mods in engine or mechanicals. Honda scooters like DIO can have a Fuel Injected version sooner than later. Frankly Kinetic is the worst scooters around and why on earth I don't know all reviews praise Kinetic 4S scooter.Read More

Try using Castrol Power1 or if you had more money use Mobil1 and have a try. Don't inform the service center as it will make your warranty void.

1. Replace the air filter with a new one in case your bike had run more than 10000km. 2. Check for fuel leak/some one is robbing the fuel(for bike it is easy just turn on tap take the fuel pipe and fill a bottle. Use a lock type fuel cock) 3. Overhaul your bike's clutch. 4. Change gears at sensib...le speeds. 5. Change the oil to high quality Castrol power1(Rs.200-250 range). 6. If you are in hilly areas then no help... 7. Fill correct tyre pressure. You had to increase back tyre pressure in case you are always double seated. 8. Tune your carb to factory setting at your dealership. Don't ask for more mileage setting. There is no such setting. Also the service center people don't know anything about tuning for mileage as they deal different types of Bajaj two wheelers everyday. Ask them to take out dealer manual and check the standard screw setting and set it. Try these and post your comment. Read More

I had seen yur review umpteen times. Why on earth all are buying Honda if defective? Even their side engined scooter had a steady balance then why on earth their center engined scooter ought have a better balance. If you had migrated from riding bajaj chetak like most of the people do, they tend t...o sit to a side. A person will automatically balanced by his brain by what he does for long. So riding a well balanced bike will make him feel unbalanced as he may be coming from a side pulled two wheeler. Also leaving the throttle for long in a four stroke will give higher torque reaction which will pull the scooter to a side unlike a two stroke one. I had seen no body support your view any way. I had a KiHo which is a bone jarring scooter and severly problematic and gives unpredictable mileage.Read More

'Picked it from show room and drove around for a few months, then I left for the US leaving the scooter idle for 1 years' Don't ever do such a nonsense to an automobile. Who said an automobile can be kept idle for such a long period without any harm?? If you had to keep the automobile for long t...ime 1. open each sparkplug and put two three drops of oil and do a manual cranking of engine. 2.Drain all old engine oil and replace it with fresh new oil and don't start the engine henceforth. 3. Drain all petrol and spray some oil into tank. 4. Disconnect battery and sell it off,buy a new one when you come back. Battery has a specific shelf life thereafter its life is nil. SO I need to sell it off and queried about the selling price. It was Rs.9000. What a scoot? Everybody know that Kinetic sc...ooters are work as great vibrators. It may be good for someone, not for me. Make the scooters more refined rather than launching models over models is the best thing thay can do now. They will never succeed with this kind of quality. Hi There is a device called choke for every automobile. Try pulling the choke before you start next time. I had seen people always pulling left brake while riding automatics. Check that also. Maintain right air pressure and have a steady accceleration. I had a KiHo with auto choke. I spent Rs.300 an...d made it manual. Now it start at the first starter push with choke. I never kick start hence forth. SO my advice is pull the choke on the front panel of Activa and start it. Also close the choke after a minute of riding or heating up. Mileage. Don't beleive the mehanics. They donot know what they are doing. For DIY guys First have a 10-15km ride on your scooter and begin the below mwntioned exercise. For increasing mileage, first start then pull the left brake lock and turn the idle screw of the scooter carburetter and increse the engine speed to tolerable limit. Now turn the mixture screw and feel the speed of engine increases. Ther is a point where further turning of screw will not increase the engine speed. If you feel that speed has reached, stop rotating the mixture screw. Leave the scooter to idle for some time. Now decrease the idling speed so that the engine will not stop frequently. Alternatively you can go to any emission testing center pay 50 bucks and connect the testing pipe to exhaust. turn the mixture screw till the meter reads minimum hydro carbon. You are in most efficient zone. Remember to increase idle speed before taking reading. Happy MotoringRead More
